Rumors of the new CSM codex mention a "Warp smith", basically a chaos version of the techmarine that can fix vehicles and affect terrain. It may fit what you want. The book seems to be coming soon, so it could be best to wait and see how it turns out!

Much to my surprise GW are still selling the Iron Warriors Warsmith in their collectors range, always one of my favourite Chaos minis from the 2nd/3rd edition era.

Ahh, you were thinking of an Adeptus Mechanicus style army.
These are normally based on Imperial Guard from a rules and lesser degree models point of view.
Cyber enhanced Guardsmen (Skitarii), lots of tanks and such.

The Chaos version is Dark Mechanicus and tends to have a heavy emphasis daemonic engines and forbidden technologies from the Dark Age of Technology.

Was this more what you were after?

Think more along the lines of Guard with big possessed machines for tanks etc, it will be easier to stick to the Guard Rules for now, but with Allies some interesting things could be done.

I have edited your threads title to help get the responses your after.

Modified Cadians will work as skitarri troopers. Some hoods, robes, ragged clothing, bionic bits, integrated weapons and minor mutations will give a 'Heretek' look. How's your greenstuff ability?

Then you of course have servitors for heavy weapon troopers, you can buy servitors singly from bits sites or ebay or convert your own.

Some necron models may also work very well as corrupted machines of the Legion Cybernetica. The Triarch Stalker without the pilot and cupola (so just the spidery walker thing) and some converted wraiths would work well.

Try searching for Skitarri, or Adeptus Mechanicus armies/conversions through google. There's a wealth of inspiration out there.
