Default What's your level of gaming?

So we've all seen tons and tons of lists for various points. How many points are in a regular game where play? Is 1850 the new standard? Will allies with 2k point games become more regular because people like to buy new things all time?

Before i stopped playing (4th edition) we always used 1500 points. Now, that I've come back for 6th edition 1500 seems so small and 1850 is a happy medium for most of my games.

Whats your opinion?

“No one expects the Imperial Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise, fear and surprise; two chief weapons, fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency! Er, among our chief weapons are: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, and near fanatical devotion to the God Emperor of Mankind! Um, I'll come in again...”

I love 2k in the new rules. foc's mean I can experiment with other HQ's/Heavy Support without compromising my eldar through lack of a Farseer.
My last game I got to use the Avatar, Maugan-Ra and my Dark Reapers. These haven't been out of the box in years - and without 2 foc's they still wouldn't.

I always prefer to play games with a new rule set or army at 1000-1500 so I can take time to get the new things correct.

1500 points is my preffered game size, as it challenges a player's listbuilding ability by preventing any double FOC ridiculous cheese, and still gives the player options to include expensive units like land raiders or terminators without making them the focus of the army.

You haven't included an option for 2k+ lol. I usually play 2500 for most of my games (or did). Have currently been in the 1500 or 2000 points games for 6th ed so far, but I'm sure that will go back up!

6th edition:

Blood Angels 12/1/3
Blood Angels/Necrons 0/0/1
Necrons 4/0/0

I wish I could have picked two because it depends on what my opponent has available and if it's a tournament or a casual game.

Casual games tend to run about 2K, unless the other guy has a small army then we play whatever he has (usually about 1.5K) and our local tournaments are about 1.5K though we have held a couple 2K tournaments too.

I'm sorry! But to be fair someone probably would have complained if I didn't put a 5k+ option.

The IG are proof that good things come to us who wait. I've been Guard since 3rd ed. I been in the store and remember getting 5 boxes of men (when they came in 20 man boxes) 3 Commissars and praying that I might survive til turn 4. I've stuck it out, and you know what I have to say? You pretty much posted the range of points I typically play so I would say all of the above.
