Warhammer pilgrimage

Ok, so I was thinking in my shower, as you do, and it came to me. I have been to some of the most important places for GW.

2006 - I lived in maryland and got to go to the US HQ for GW (holy shortness) in Glen Burnie when it was still there. I had to look at my onld 3rd ed starter set box to make sure I was not making this up, lol.

2008 - Im stationed in the UK, just got back from Trashcanastan, my wife had our first child (Who already seems to be drifting to the Dark Eldar...) and I got to go to Warhammer World and geek out for the day. Being in Bugmans Bar was nice, and when Giselle started crying I'm pretty sure part of the design team gave me a look like "You had sex?"

2012 - Now I'm stationed in Arkansas and just noticed that the US HW is in Memphis. One of my troops (IRL, I'm a big ole SSgt) went to the place and text me so say how awesome he was. I have to convice my wife to let me go.

And thats when it hit me, I'm treating this like some kind of religious thing. I could care less about going to the real Holy Land, and I'll be damned if I dont get my ass over to Memphis before the summer is over.

So this brings me to my question. Does anyone else feel like this? I mean, I have been pretty lucky to be at the right places at the right time, but I can be the only Ultra Nerd to be like this.

The IG are proof that good things come to us who wait. I've been Guard since 3rd ed. I been in the store and remember getting 5 boxes of men (when they came in 20 man boxes) 3 Commissars and praying that I might survive til turn 4. I've stuck it out, and you know what I have to say? WHO'S DYING NOW HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

I think it'd be cool to visit Warhammer World and Bugmans Bar and such in the UK, but I wouldn't see it as some pilgrimage. I have a lot of friends over there and it'd be cool to all meet up there and hang out for a couple hours, have a couple beers and such. The rest, I'd like to go to a Gamesday or some other GW event at some point, but that's about it, if there's a GW near me I'll check it out for gaming.
