Hah, I was reading WD97 earlier myself, and noticed some things that have radically been altered... enough that I wrote a blog post on this very topic, but I'm loathe to repeat myself.

TheKingElessar: that is a good post. I was reading that very same bit of fluff the other day. I was also going to post something but just decided so much had changed that that fluff is pretty much null and void.

Thanks. :D
What's worth bearing in mind is that the Heresy was originally nothing like the big deal it has since become, the pivotal era of the Imperium's founding. At the time it was more like it was a significant event, but notably after the Imperium had been set up. Back then, they were Legiones Astartes, not Adeptus Astartes, as Adeptus was a title bestowed on relatively few. Indeed, the Ultramarines were one of few that were Adeptus Astartes.

The Ravenwing pretty much all rode Jetcycles, too.

Tons of changes. I can't remember who the seven original Legions still active in M41 were, but I *think* Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Crimson Fists, Iron Hands, Dark Angels, White Scars, and Blood Drinkers. Hopefully someone who knows better can correct me.

@FatBoyFat and TheKingElessar: Thanks for glimpses into the past. It's interesting to see how things have changed.

My friend game me a couple of old WD and I rather liked the Index Astartes and terrain-building tutorials they used to have in there.
