Default Skulz mechanicus pack???

Alright, i just went and bought a pack of these on eBay.

Got them for $147,5, around 160 with postage.

So i'm rather pleased, as i've seen them go for a bunch of cash.

Basically, i want some info on them. Where and when are they from, and how rare are they?
And some other info would be nice as well.

Here's the page.

So, any info appreciated.

They are about 8 years old if I recall correctly. You used to get skullz for ordering from GW and you could redeem skullz for various things, this being one of the higher end items.

No, you got some with every purchase, the amount depending in the price of the item (or it might have only been boxsets). White dwarf subscriptions gave you a few too.

GW used to do a lot of promotional stuff like that, they also had vouchers for buy two get one free, 20% off etc when new stores opened or as promotional events.

Days gone by....

They were hard to get. considering you got one Skull for a purchase of $15. These guys went for 200 Skullz!!!

Of course I worked for GW at the time and got two sets free.

Background on them is they were sculpted during 2nd edition but never saw the light of day.

It was mid 3rd edition when they came out, I recall because they had the captain that was included in the 3rd edition box set (the limited edition one).

These are going to look really good, i remember getting a black orc banner bearer with my skullz, it took forever to get the right amount of tokens. Just make sure you add these bad boys to the sprue database before you start painting them.
