This is a link to a Boy's Life coupon that ran 11 years ago. It was basically a gift card worth up to ten bucks, and I can still remember redeeming it for some Warmaster trolls, bringing them home, and painting them just awfully with my Testor's enamel paints. Still have a few floating around somewhere.

I didn't.
But I live in a universe where GW only advertises in its own publication and doesn't give stuff away.

Hey! Where'd ... Everybody ... go?

I never knew that they advertised anywhere else but their own stuff. I am actually quite shocked. That would have been 3rd Ed.

Yeah, I wonder how much more popular this hobby would be if GW actually had a good advertisement department or at least sold White Dwarf in popular book stores.

Judging by the 3rd ed starter box in the advert, yep.

Maybe '97 or early '98.

No unfortunately.

But the last free gift that came with WD was the Ork Nob from the AoBR set, those cheap bastards don't away shit now.

Ultramarines are Pussies

Except Dark Angels, any chapter that sounds like a Death Metal Band can't be that bad.

And there's no such thing as a "Sale" at a GW store. I have gotten lucky with some of the Rogue Trader stores, though. I got three razorbacks for $10 apiece once, back around 1998.

I might have, I started around wargaming in 96-97 and I was in BSA at the time ... so assuming I realized what I was looking at ... maybe?

Current Project: Dark Angels
