Ork Zzapp Gun Harf Trakk (2)

Ork Zzapp Gun Harf Trakk (2)

There's another pic with more views too.

Last build for a while - I really need to do some painting (as you all keep telling me!). Yes, I've plagiarised another FW concept - but this was so much more fun than paying out 30-odd for theirs (and probably cheaper)!

There's a GW Trukk under there somewhere. Engine compartment is detailed with wire etc, plus new exhausts from Plastruct tubing. Front rollers are made from old model car wheels (Porsche, I think!) and offcuts of the Pulsa Rokkitt model also shown in this gallery, with filler and rivitts. Nothing gets wasted here, in true Mek fashion.

Rear tracks units are straight from a 1/35 scale Sherman. Dragon very thoughtfully do the entire suspension set-up as a separate set. Sprockets have new faces and I added some real springs and bolt heads. Links had the detail sanded off and replaced with something simpler and more random.

Kit rear axles had ends sawn off and turned up 90 degrees, making them higher and further apart. Got the calcs a bit wrong and had to raise the rear bed up on girders, but it looks OK. Added the FW Zzapp Gun and fitted the kit Shoota mount higher up in the back.

Various bits of extra armour, mesh etc added.

Trailer is scratchbuilt from plastic card and Plastruct sections - couldn't bring myself to sacrifice another Trukk for it (yep - that was Plan A!) - using left-over wheels and spare Battlewagon bogies. Engine and generator were once a Tau Hammerhead Ion Cannon. Capacitors for the Zzap Gun are real ones, roughly wired together.

And that's about it. Whole thing took 9 days' spare time from first cut to last rivet.
