Default Windrider Host w/ FW (2k)

Always wanted to do a Saim Hann list that was really fluffy and still competitive. I don't have the new codex in front of me, so I'm a bit off on things like upgrades, but I think I've got the gist now. and I've never been against FW, so....

Farseer - 120
-Singing Spear, Jetbike

Warlock Council - 330
- x5, Singing Spears, Jetbikes (1 ea per Troop, 1 with Farseer)

Windrider Host - 122
- x6, 2 Cannons

Windrider Host - 122
- x6, 2 Cannons

Windrider Host - 122
- x6, 2 Cannons

Windrider Host - 122
- x6, 2 Cannons

Hornet Squadron - 220
- x2, Pulse Laser and EML each

Hornet Squadron - 220
- x2, Pulse Laser and EML each

Hornet Squadron - 220
- x2, Pulse Laser and EML each

Phoenix Bomber - 225
- Phoenix Missile Launchers, TL Brightlance, x2 Shuricannons

Phoenix Bomber - 225
- Phoenix Missile Launchers, TL Brightlance, x2 Shuricannons

So there we go. Honestly I'm not sure if the Crimson Hunter's actually better than the Phoenix, but in a single force org the Phoenix wins because it's a Heavy Support option. It's also a little more durable I believe, as it gets Shrouded. Not entirely sure. I have Pulse Lasers on the Hornets anyway. Still unsure of powers and wargear, so I kept it kind of simple.

Alternatively, if I drop both Bombers and the 5th Warlock, I could switch to a second FOC, adding a second Farseer and 2 Crimson Hunters.

Hmm... On Crimson Hunter vs Phoenix, if it weren't due to slot concerns, I think it'd be CH every time. Too bad Hornets are so good.

Also, I wouldn't build for double FoC unless I absolutely knew the event I was attending was allowing it, mostly because I don't know anybody who actually plays with it- in a competitive or casual setting, I've never met anyone who's willing to play with it.

Otherwise everything else seems pretty good actually, although I don't see the point in bringing the 5th Warlock when the Farseer can just ride with a Windrider unit.

There's a whole debate in the rules section... technically no one can stop a 2nd FOC... unless a tournament goes 1999+1. Safer not to use it, honestly. On the other hand, let's face it; I'm already throwing FW around...

Looking at the Hunter, it does seem like a really nice fighter. The Phoenix is pretty good also, able to tank hunt and take swathes out of MEQ units with the missiles. With the Hornets playing with Pulse Lasers, I don't really feel like I'm losing anything. In my opinion, to do a true Saim Haan it almost has to work like this; the air support WOULD be Heavies if the organization was entirely that Craftworld.

Considering the 2 Phoenixes, I was wondering what people thought about flipping out the 6th warlock and the Farseer, and instead taking an Autarch. He could go in one of the Windrider squads, maybe with a reaper launcher? (I have to check the coex, they could do that in the old one)

I'm a huge fan of this list! It looks solid to me!

I can't comment much as I don't have a clue about the FW rules you're using. My only issue is the limited number of stands in the scoring units. If they ever get in a bad round of HTH, they will likely be destroyed. JBikes just don't have a lot of strength in HTH, so I don't like to put allmy eggs in the Bike Basket. Otherwise, nice setup.

I have to hope that I can outmaneuver H2H and just not get into it. When I build a list like this, I run it as (imho) true Saim Hann... bikes on the ground, not boots.

Other option might be one squad of Spears instead of troop bikes...
