Default 1850 tourney list

hello

My local club is hosting a tourney against a rival club and we're at least hoping to give them a good kicking (apparently they are very good)

so here's my list.

Eldrad
4 warlocks
3 destructors
3 singing spears
(waveserpent)
SS
shuriken cannons

Farseer (with banshees)
runes of witnessing
singing spear
doom


8 banshees

I don't think the wraithlords need brightlances- overpriced and you are covered anti vehicle with two squads of FD and Farseer/warlocks who count as strength 9 for purposes of vehicle penetration.

I would also be tempted to play at least some pathfinders- exceedingly difficult to kill, due to 2+ cover save, especially if you put some harlies in aswell, wound on 2+...

If it were my list I would play at least one squad of hawks.. but then I love the way they play, especially beside jetbikes, And they could have a place, but it depends if you like them or not, because if you don't like their style then there is no point using them!

You think? hmm...tbh they never really do much, people are just scared of the idea.
It would save me quite a few points.

i'm not a huge fan of hawks in a comp list. they are hella cool and fun though :D

what would you take instead of lances?

The Wraithlords are over 300 points that have a one (1) in six (6) chance to simply do nothing each turn since all your psykers are jetting around (like the bosses they are) in Wave Serpents - far, far away from MC's designed to shoot, not run.

The Dire Avengers are also a little out of place without a box to hide them in before and after bladestorming. Plus, with only 16 bodies playing the troop role, you're in for an uphill struggle for two (2) in three (3) missions.

You could drop the Wraithlords for Wave Serpents and eighty-ish (~80) points left over; this gives your troops a way to move and hide, while having enough points to add another warlock and/or pimp out the Dragons.

You could instead cut the Avengers and add guardians w/spiritseer to keep the Wraithlords from spacing out, and a pathfinders unit (or two if you take the Warlock from Eldrad's posse) to, uh, well, not die.

I would take the wrath lords out for some transport for the DV. With the points left over a squad of pathfinders. Those changes will turn your army into a more moveable and competitive army.

so lords finders create fire base harlies hide with them eldrad goes with harlies casts powers fortune harlies who become council against shooting in cover and then harlies counter asault with eldrad running into finders serpants with da add to fire base with walcers fire dragonz serpants go after any tanks o make units up to six for dragonz as you can then multi charge tanks more efectively people forget there meltabombs serpants then run back pick up units if its getting to much for harlies finders and use to contest at the end

hey guys, sorry i havn't replied.

I played a few games trying out the lists you guys suggested and in the end I dropped both wraithslords in favour of more tanks

I dropped the farseer so it's just eldrad
I took 2 fire prisms instead

Mixed results really

Only issue I would foresee is that your two scoring units now have giant bullseye's painted on them for anti-infantry fire.

Not having the DA in a transport is a bad idea (in terms of having troops around to actually claim objectives) if you are going up against all the fire you will get, especially from GK, IG, and DE. Lots of high-volume, long range, and template-based shooting. I guess the only mitigating factor would be to reserve them and hope to take out anything with a big gun before they walk on.

That being said, not sure where I would drop things to get the points. I like everything else you have in your list...
