Default Chaos HQ

What would all of you suggest for a good hq choice/build that has 2+ armor and ap 2 because what I use doesn't cut it against mine enemy's strong cc stuff and I want something that can tear it up in cc. I have been thinking about using the murder sword on a terminator lord.

Take the crimson slaughter supplement then give your lord the axe of blind fury, mark of khorn, and the item from the crimson slaughter that gives a 2+ armor save.

either Crimson slaughter relic or Codex CSM ones, no 2+ with AoBF unfortunately

A Chaos Lord of Nurgle with bike, power fist, lightning claw, the Slaughterer's Horn (rage and furious charge), Daemonheart (2+ armor and IWND), Sigil of Corruption for 210 points on the other hand is a nice little punchy and mobile HQ.
hint: give him a Spawn retinue!

Damn forgot about that no sharing relic thing. On the plus side if you don't care about initiative warpsmiths come with 5 str 5 ap 2 attacks, and a built in 2+ armor save.

Murder sword is a double-cost power sword if you're not fighting that one special enemy model. I much prefer the AoBF on a Termi Lord or some such--the only downside is you can't go MoN or MoS for NMs or PM troops, if you go that way.

I prefer the added mobility and toughness of a bike for a lord to the added survivability of termi armor, personally. And if, as others mention, you take the Crimson Slaughter codex, you can get a 2+ armor save while still on that bike with the Daemonheart (with, say, MoN for T6--great!) and the Blade of the Relentless, which is AP2 after you've killed 3 people with it...

The alternate choice to a fancy relic is the 40 points of a Lightning Claw and Power Fist--both Specialist Weapons, so you still get the +1 attack, and you get to choose between dicing fools with claw or unwieldily crushing fools with the fist.

CSM Plog, Tactica

Thanks everyone. For added clarity the army I fight most of the time is the elder so I do tend to have just one good enemy hq to worry about with 2+ armor.

I've seen a Chaos Lord w/mark of Tzeentch, with disc of Tzeenth, with the the murder sword, and sigil of corruption work pretty well.

You're a T5 jetbike with a 3++. You'll most likely be able to get to their 2+ save model to kill them with the murder sword since you're a jetbike and I believe you get 5 attacks on the charge.

I don't know if it is as efficient as the Khorne lord or as survivable as a nurgle lord, but it is very maneuverable so I believe it makes a great assassin.

I like that tzeentch lord build but...where do you put him? I think there isnt a unit in the CSM dex that can keep up with his speed...and if you use spawns or bikes, well...you lose the speed :S
Also a tzeentch lord doesnt unlock new troops like nurgle do, 2+ 3++ is nice anyway so maybe if you dont care about plague marines as troops that`s far from a bad option

Why not just take a vindicator and blast them to smithereens before they get chance to charge? :3 Means you can save your points for a Daemon Prince with black mace.

Bike Lords are the ticket, but I personally dislike bikes, I think the models are silly & can't really get behind them for my Crimson Slaughter army.

I use 2 variations.

1) Lord
Blade of Relentless, Daemonheart, Prophet of the Voices, Meltabombs.

2) Sorcerer (Level 3)
Force Axe, Balestar, Daemonheart, Prophet of the Voices, Meltabombs.

I run both (obviously not together in the same army) in a 15 strong MoK Possessed unit, the Lord is the combat monster but with the Sorcerer I can rely on divination do its thing.
