No obliterators? Your crazy. hahaha. Whats up dude. I'd love to help a fella Iron Warrior brother out.

Unfortunately the Lascannon on regular space marines has become obsolete ever since Melta Guns and troop Death Guard fell in the same sentence.

Because Iron Warriors should be tough and have bionics and other crazy stuff on them, a lot of us Iron Warrior Players like to play using the Death Guard rules. Call it cybernetics and makes sure your opponent understands what your doing. Plus one toughness and fearless is fricken amazing. Also feel no pain, and the fact that there are no bonuses to your opponent if he charges your troops.

So for troops, it should look like something like this:

7 Iron Warriors/Plague Marines – Plague Champion with powerfist; 2 meltaguns; Rhino
256 points

7 Iron Warriors/Plague Marines – Plague Champion with powerfist; 2 meltaguns; Rhino
256 points

7 Iron Warriors/Plague Marines – Plague Champion with powerfist; 2 meltaguns; Rhino
256 points

7 Iron Warriors/Plague Marines – Plague Champion with powerfist; 2 meltaguns; Rhino
256 points

For Elites, its really just a waste of points to get any elites for Chaos. Best you could do if you like the cool terminators is sacrifice 105 pts for a suicidal unit that could deep strike an blow up an expensive vehichal. Also good for maybe absorbing a unit or two of your opponents fire power.

So maybe something like this:

Terminators- 3 Combi-Meltas
105 points

HQ-

Warsmiths... kinda look cool... fluff wise, if you have made a appropriate one. But until then, I think you'll enjoy a daemon prince with Wings, MoS, and a Lash. Pulling in one unit of your opponents into your three vindicators one at a time.

Daemon Prince of Slaanesh- Mark of Slaanesh; Wings; Lash
155 points

A cool way to make this prince look Iron Warriorish, is by converting him with bits that look bionical and making his whip out of wires.

1719pts

That gives you a good amount of points for something cool.

You'll find having daemon princes are fricken awesome. I also recommend a Daemon Prince with MoN, Wings, and Warptime. This guy is essentially your pimp daddy. He's tough as heck and he can re-roll stuff. Fricken awesome

He cost 175. Leaves pts for other upgrades you may want.

Anyway, hope this helps.

I totally support your view of Iron Warriors. No cultists, that's the way it should be. I would just switch 1 or 2 Vindicator for Obliterators.

I can see the point on using certain cult marines, as long as their special rules are explainable (plus members of the non-god-specific Chaos Marine armies like IWs & NLs, do seem to sometimes align with one of the gods). PMs would work very well with IW fluff. Super resilient, can take meltas, defensive, and even being a little slow with I3 makes sense for seige specialists. After reading Storm of Iron its safe to say Berzerkers would work just fine in IWs too. You need crazy bastards to storm through the breach once it has been peeled open with the big weapons and meltas. I don't think I'll go the way of DPs. Effective for sure, just don't work in my vision of IWs. And definitely Oblits are more effective, but going for a more mechanized feel.

All good advice guys thanks =) Gives me lots to think about.

Yeah. I mean, I hate telling people to "not use" vanilla marines. But the way I look at it, is not that they're a terrible choice to pick but I look at the facts.

1. Point wise and for the special rules, your better off with cult troops.
2. Vanilla/regular chaos marines have almost the same rules as regular space marines...
So I ask you, what the hell is that crap? An Iron Warrior with 10,000 years of combat experience should never be statistically comparred to a regular space marine that probably has at most 100 years of combat experience. F-word that. How fluff is that? Besides, did you see how easy those Iron Warriors destroyed the Imperial Fists one on one? Redicolous. So at least to me, a regular vanilla chaos marine is more like a renegade marine. Not a Legion Marine. So its not fluffy in my eyes.

I have to agree with ckcrawford assessment. The sad thing is its probably easier to build an iron warriors force using the normal codex for space marines than the chaos one. The only thing you would miss out on would be the obliterators and daemon prince.
