Revised Deathguard list 2000 Points

So after a few defeats at the hads of IG, Space marines and Eldar, I have redone my 2000 point list. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. I have pushed aside a few fluff details for the sake of competiveness, but I still refuse to put in raptors or bikes.

HQ: Typhus Herald of Nurgle (I know hes expenisve but Ive had success with him and hes really fluffy.)

Elites: 10 Terminators
Mark of Nurgle
2 Heavy flamers

Dreadnaught
Lascannon
Missle launcher

Dreadnaught
Lascannon
Missle Launcher

Troops: 10 Plague Marines
Champion
Power fist
2 Meltaguns

10 Plague Marines
Same upgrades as above except this squad has a rhino

Heavy: 3 Obliterators

Vindicator
Demonic possession

5 Havocs
4 Missle Launchers
Rhino

2000 Points

before anything else you need to take out the individual points costs of upgrades (like rhinos and lascannons). GW doesn't like it very much when people can just check forums before having to buy the codex. Check out the stickied rules thread in the army lists section, it explains it all.

As for the list, it seems pretty troops light to me. Only 2 squads? I know PMs are resilient, but with the emphasis on objectives now-a-days, and the fact it's a 2000 pt list, you need more. I would take 4 troops, but that's just me, I tend to go for more troops before anything else.

1st thing! Drop the Lascannons from Dreds you will shoot yourself at somepoint in the game. At which point you will have a very sad face. Give them either Multi-melta or CCWs and keep them away from you stuff!

Drop the Termy squad size. Drop the plague marine squad size as well. You can save a lot of points and not lose much of any effectiveness by dropping 10 mans to managable 7-8 mans.

The Havoks if you are going with missle launchers do not need a rhino sit them in cover and just start shooting.

Use the extra points to get another Vindi Vindi work best in pairs.

At 2000 points you need another scoring unit either more plague marines or lesser demons if you are strapped for points.

If you love kittens you will love Blood of Kittens

I decided to just get rid of the dreadnaughts, partly becaues I can spend the points on more troops, plus the idea of 2 twinlinked lascannon shots comming at me dosent sound good. Im also thinking of dropping the vindi for a predator with lascannons or autocannons. Any ideas on this?

Default 1 improvement

Just changed the weapons on that 10 man squad to give them a lascannon instead because they are footsloggers with short range powerful weapons

shortrange weps + short movement = *FAIL* so i'd give em something longrange or even make em a 5 man Noise marine squad w/ a blastmaster or whatever size squad you need for obj holding

Other than that detail, your army is pretty sick, hope you kick some ass

Yup, I think that you've got a pretty sweet list going there. I think your 10 man squad could use some long range weapons. Otherwise very nice. And although I agree with keeping the kill points down, 2 5man termie squads would be more versatile. All in all, nice work!

He dies easily and is expensive, but he is indeed a killer.

Wow. 10 is overoverkill. I run 5 at the most - especially with MoN! They will kill too much too fast and be left standing to be shot at. Drop at least 3 (if not 5) of these!

I would either drop these altogether for a raider for the termies or more troops or get rid of the uber range weapons. Unlike loyalists, they cant ds, so you will either have to march him forward or shoot from the rear. Either is not optimal.

All PM should be in rhinos.
You need a minimum of 3 troops at 2k, I would never leave home without 4.
7 Plague marines is more than adequate. Drop 3 from each squad for the points.
I usually take one squad of 7 with no champ and 2 X plasma with a havoc on their rhino to sit on my home objective. Very effective.

Drop these for another vindicator or 3 more oblits.

Nice start. With a little tweaking, you will be rock hard. ;)

The previous advice pretty much covers you - no Havocs, fewer Termies, Rhinos for PMs, no need for Fists and even Champs, more Oblits, or another Vindi, they work best in pairs.
