Default Newbie 2000pt Iron Warriors List

Hi, l'm getting back in Warhammer 40k since l stopped back in 6th edition. A lot has changed in 8th so l'm hoping for any feedback for my Iron Warrior list, anything fluffwise or for tabletop performance. I already have most of what is listed except for the havocs. I bought a used Iron Warriors army and some other discounted units over time whenever but am stumped as to bring the total to 2000pt, not really into power lists.

HQ: Chaos Lord
Combi-melta
Lightning Claws
Fleshmetal Exoskeleton
(101)

HQ: Sorcerer
Combi-bolter
Force stave
Prescience and Infernal Gaze/Death Hex
(106)

Elite: Terminator Squad (5)
2x Combi-bolter
2x Power axes
2x Power fists
Chainfist
3x Combi-melta
(272)

Elite: Khorne Berzerkers (10)
5x Chainaxes
Icon of wrath
Power sword
(179)

Elite: Helbrute
Twin linked lascannon
Missile Launcher
(147)

Elite: Helbrute
Twin linked heavy bolter
Power scourge
(132)

Troop: Chaos Space Marine Squad (10)
Flamer
Plasma gun
Power fist
(164)

Troop: Chaos Space Marine Squad (5)
(65)

Troop: Chaos Space Marine Squad (5)
(65)

Rhino
2x Combi-bolter
Havoc Launcher
(85)

Heavy Support: Vindicator
Havoc Launcher
Combi-bolter
(148)

Heavy Support: Land Raider
2x Twin linked lascannon
Twin linked heavy bolter
Combi-flamer
(367)

Heavy Support: Havoc Squad (5)
4x Missile Launchers
(165)

A total of 1996 points. The general deployment will see the 10 man chaos squad in the Raider and Berzerkers in the Rhino, Termies will teleport strike wherever necessary. However l feel like the small troop section is underwhelming but l am unsure how to squeeze hordes cultist in here and get the perks of a Battalion list. A lot of "slaves" (cultists) is fluffy in a IW list, should l just get rid of one marine squad and take two 15 man cultist squad, is it better? Also what heavy weapons are best in 8th edition for Havocs?
Thanks

I think you could probably shave some of the special weapons off the terminators, thereby getting some extra points to drop on some slave cultists.

List seems good (I'm also new from a looooooooong hiatus from 40k) but the only concern I see is that your anti-tank weapons are concentrated. It might be more effective to spread some anti-tank firepower throughout the list.

Thanks for the input lordcardigan!
It really seems 8th edition is bringing back more players to the hobby than ever.
I have since changed my list but l haven't updated this thread (because of the previously empty replies ).

The new list hopefully makes every unit a threat to something of the opponent's

Now almost everyone can take on lower toughness vehicle units to some degree. l do agree that terminators can suck up many points but l don't have any alternative models for them, and l'm a sucker for having units modelled with the weapons they are given. I've heard cultists are great for getting more bodies on the field, but also for giving the opposing army easy kill points with T3 and 6+ save (unless taken in large numbers and using the Iron Warrior Warlord Trait). I'm not against the idea of dropping the Vindicator for like 30 cultists but l'm not convinced the trade is worth the loss of one of the cheaper anti-tank units in the CSM armoury (however badly it was nerfed).

I wouldn't drop the vindicator. It fits with the close range feel your force has. Also vindicators are just so perfect with iron warriors I think.

Yeah, l remember in the Storm of Iron book for Iron Warriors they used squadrons of them to batter down the enemy's citadel fortress wall in the huge siege. Though the D3 (or D6) number of hits characteristic seems to just restrict the destructive nature of such a large cannon. The average kills that cannon will yield might only be 1-2 models per turn, so it's better for multi-wound units like vehicles. So l couldn't help but feel that something else that fits the IW bill and do better than the Vindicator.
