Default 2000pt semi competitive list

I have been playing 40k for a few years now and I think I am finally getting to grips with what would make a good list. I have recently started collecting Chaos Marines and wanted peoples opinions on my 2000 point list:

- Chaos Sorcerer Bike, Mastery Level 3, Force Staff (Telepathy)

TROOPS
x10 Marines x2 Plasma, Chmp Combi Plasma , VOTLW
> Rhino
x10 Marines x2 Meltas, Power Axe, VOTLW
> Rhino

FAST
x5 Bikes chmp combi melta & power Axe, VOTLW, x2 Meltas, Mark Nurgle
x4 Chaos Spawn Mark Nurgle

HEAVY
Maulerfiend Lash Tendrils
Maulerfiend Magma Cutters

ELITE
Hellbrute Twin linked Las & ML

LoW
Chaos Knight (forge world rules)

I am looking to have a bit of a death star bike unit

Eldar W15-D3-L1 no longer play

Marines W9-D1-L4

Nids W1-D1-L1 no longer play

Chaos W1-D0-L0

Do you know it'll be okay to field the chaos knight where you play, given its rules aren't 40k approved? In an environment where experimental rules aren't allowed you may be able to run it as a normal imperial knight, but there's the potential double whammy of no experimental FW units AND no come the apocalypse allies to consider, which I think is often the case with the major tournaments. That put me off the chaos knight

That is a very good point that I have never thought of...
Hopefully FW will have rules in an imperial armour soon.

I would drop the burning brand for a lightning claw as assault is really where this model shines. The +1 attack for 2 specialist weapons and the flexibility to make ap3 attacks at i5 is great for killing marines. It can sometimes be critical to swing before an unwieldy opponent due to the champion of chaos rule.

This list could get a great boost from the Crimson Slaughter supplement. The important bits are free fear on everyone and access to a relic that gives a 2+ save and It Will Not Die. This is killer on a nurgle bike lord, putting him at 3W T6 2+/4++.

- Chaos Sorcerer Bike, Mastery Level 3, Force Staff (Telepathy)
If you're going for a small death star you'll really want to be able to cast invisibility reliably. To this end I would definitely add a spell familiar. You could possibly move the burning brand to this character if you don't use the Crimson Slaughter supplement.

I love melta bombs on characters, especially fast ones. I would certainly add them here. Maybe to the lord as well as s8 isn't the best at tearing down av13 walkers.

TROOPS
x10 Marines x2 Plasma, Chmp Combi Plasma , VOTLW
> Rhino
I've found that the best way to deal with Chaos Marines' bad leadership is to only ever take minimum 5 model units with the cheapest possible load out. This way you minimize your losses, particularly when getting swept in assault which is usually how I lose units to failed leadership. For these reasons I always avoid veterans of the long war. Taking minimum units also has the benefits of more Rhinos, champions and melta bombs in your army.

x10 Marines x2 Meltas, Power Axe, VOTLW
> Rhino
Looks great. I would drop veterans for the reasons mentioned above. I would also drop the power axe, or switch it to a weapon without unwieldy so your champion doesn't commit suicide in a challenge so often.

FAST
x5 Bikes chmp combi melta & power Axe, VOTLW, x2 Meltas, Mark Nurgle
As with the other units, drop veterans and add melta bombs. Veterans is redundant here as you'll either have fearless from the lord or ld 10 from the sorcerer.

x4 Chaos Spawn Mark Nurgle
Great. I would try to bump this unit up to 5 to better deliver your characters to combat.

HEAVY
Maulerfiend Lash Tendrils
Maulerfiend Magma Cutters
Love me some maulerfiends. If you can find the points, I'd suggest lasher tendrils on both. In my experience, magma cutters are not that reliable. Two maulerfiends with lasher tendrils can do a great job of dealing with enemy monstrous/gargantuan creatures and walkers as the tendrils stack.

ELITE
Hellbrute Twin linked Las & ML
Seems this is serving the role of long range anti-armor. A 3 lascannon predator would be more reliable at a similar price point if you have the model available.

LoW
Chaos Knight (forge world rules)
Awesome! I would definitely pick the Paladin variant with the mark of khorne. It seems the best all-around choice to me with the rapid-fire battle canon, 5++ and re-roll on stomps.

The ITC 40k circuit just updated their rules to allow (almost) all experimental rules from Forgeworld. This was prompted because of some emails from Forgeworld stating that "Experimental Rules" simply means, "Not printed in an Imperial Armor book yet and intended for play."
