I'd honestly prefer the 9 OS units, myself. That could win you some Maelstrom missions right there.

I suppose that way they wouldn't even need to kill a ton of stuff, just outscore it. Hmm...

Here's another version that attempts to add a little more firepower at the cost of 1 unit of CSM: The combi-meltas could be swapped out to combi-flamers if I think I'm gonna need to take out some weak troops, or if I know I'm gonna get charged by some.

HQ:

Sorcerer: Mastery Level 3, Spell Familiar, Sigil of Corruption, Force Axe: TELEPATHY

TROOPS:

Cultists x25: 2x Flamer <== joined by Sorcerer
Chaos Space Marines x5: Meltagun, Melta bombs, Combi-melta, Rhino, Dirge Caster
Chaos Space Marines x5: Meltagun, Melta bombs, Combi-melta, Rhino, Dirge Caster
Chaos Space Marines x5: Meltagun, Melta bombs, Combi-melta, Rhino, Dirge Caster

FAST ATTACK:

Heldrake: Baleflamer

With the removal of the Hellbrutes, what are you still using your Comms Relay for?

I know it's hard, as a Khornate-leaning Chaos player, but... play the mission, not your opponent's army.

Here's a list I put together for a 1500 Maelstrom game this Wednesday, out of miniatures that I actually have assembled at the moment:

HEAVY SUPPORT:

Obviously I'm hoping to roll a 6 on the d3 for units to infiltrate. Where Huron deploys depends on this roll. I may outflank the Obliterators, I may infiltrate some Cultists as a distraction, and so on. Comms relay to keep 1 unit of cultists along with a home objective. I'm thinking I'll use the larger unit and not join Huron to them. They won't be Fearless, and as a result can go to ground for a 2+ cover save.

I figure I'll try to grab the objectives and toss out a lot of objective secured troops with some mobility to grab/contest objectives.
