Default Red and Green Daemons 2000pts

I'm kicking around a Daemon list, as it's so vastly different in play-style than anything else 40k has to offer.

Plus, I have half the models already.

The logic is pretty simple. Nurgle is tough, Khorne is brutal. Giving me hard combat units and resilient scoring units.

...

270 - Bloodthirster: Death Strike.
Had 20pts left. Figured popping a Dreadnaught or something would be worthwhile.

190 - Great Unclean One: Breath of Chaos.

200 - 5 Bloodcrushers.
200 - 5 Bloodcrushers.

175 - 10 Plaguebearers: Chaos Icon.
175 - 10 Plaguebearers: Chaos Icon.
150 - 10 Plaguebearers.
2x15 or 3x10?
160 - 10 Bloodletters.
160 - 10 Bloodletters.

160 - Soul Grinder: Phlegm.
160 - Soul Grinder: Phlegm.
Tongue or Phlegm?

2000pts on the nose.

Opinions, comments, criticism?

...

You wouldn't think being on holiday could be so boring.

Alternately, instead of the Grinders I can swing..

2x Prince: Mark of Nurgle, Noxious Touch, Iron Hide, Cloud of Flies.

An Icon for the 3rd unit of Plague Bearers and Cloud of Flies for the GUO.

The grinders are necessary if you arent running tzeench as you need the shooting and incidentally phlegm over tongue anyday. This is a strange list as ive never seen someone streamilne greater demons like that but it seems pretty solid, the only change i might suggest there is maybeye noxious touch on the unclean one as a MC killer or trying to get in some more icons.

Unholy Might is a far better upgrade than Death Strike for the same cost. Blessing of the Blood God is also worth considering since it makes the Bloodthirster almost immune to the effects of psychic powers.

The Great Unclean One is a difficult Daemon to use because of how slow it is. You may want to consider Ku'gath in this guy's place despite the massive cost difference.

Oh hell yes. Bloodcrushers are pretty much the best Daemon unit in the Codex, point-for-point. The more of these guys you can fit the better (though right now you have the perfect number!).

I'd personally go with three units of ten. No need to pile so many bodies around an Icon - Plaguebearers just don't die!

These guys are great, but soft. Try to screen them with Plaguebearers if you can, as the cover save they'll get is better than their rather lackluster Invul.

Tongue or Phlegm?
Phlegm. Tongue is too expensive for how unreliable it is. If Tongue cost, say, 10 points less I'd be all over it, but...

Best of luck!

Ok, so drop Death Strike. Unholy Might it is. At least str 8 can instant death chars. Well, aside from the plethora of marine chars with Immortal Warrior.

The main reason I've gone with a GUO is simply for the point value. GUO is awesome.. but really, really slow.

Call me weird, but I refuse to field named chars.

Phlegm definitely seems like the right choice, purely because it doesn't actually roll to hit.

The one thing I'm worried about, is chasing down things like Hammerheads and... well... anything fast. The daemon army seems lacking in mobility.

Maybe I need Screamers or something.

He comes with Noxious Touch standard.

if you don't want ku'gath, then go with a nurgle DP with cloud, touch and then use the extra points to get something fun, maybe another BC and then you can run them as 3x3 sqauds. Also with both BCs and PBs, you may not need 3 units of PBs, maybe another BL squad to replace it.

That DP will be faster and still survive plenty. Give him Hide if you feel he's too naked with T6. Get your BT the anti psyker upgrade blessing of the blood god I think it is.

Dont get me wrong, PBs are tough to kill, they just dont kill anything fast either. I'd actually drop your PB squads down to 5 each (they camp objectives right? They suck in melee) and get more letters or horrors.

I have to say soul grinder is utter trash, easy to erase against a decent rival. Could go DPs in place or try something like the crappy hounds, they fast (your army isnt) and can stop some of the shooting for footsluggin'.

my 1/2 cent

Smell that? That's sarcasim!
