Default New style of reading

I've never bought many of BL's novellas in the past but recently I have been purchasing more of them. Ahriman Exodus, The Carnac Campaign, The Beast Rises etc and besides the price, I am enjoying reading them more than the usual full length novels.

This may well be a short lived opinion but the quality does seem better. 'Good things come in small packages'. Anyone else feeling this?

I've only read tiny sampling of BL stuff, but it has all felt like someone wrote a novella and then had to make it longer. Oft-repeated descriptions, pointless characters, strangely detailed interactions that turn out to provide nothing. I think I'd like them all more as shorter stories (but I'm also borrowing them, not paying for them).

Isn't Ahriman Exodus just a compilation of short stories? Not a novella? I'm pretty sure it is.

Either way, it's a damn good compilation. I have read some pretty good novellas recently, so I have to agree that they are making some better ones. However, I will still prefer the full novel any day.

I do buy some novellas that look nice in my collection....

I too have seen an improvement in Novellas specifically 'Serpent Beneath & Wolf King'.

I am also finding the Beast arises series to be decent sized novels, they are smaller than most BL fiction but to me the quality of content and scope that has so far been depicted in this series has been really well conveyed.

I do still of course loved 500 page novels but the convenience of these smaller formats is very appealing for those that want to just take a quick dip so to speak.
