The II Catachan are made up of many Catachan Devil Squads. They fought valiantly during the Dulma'lin Cleansing, where Colonel "Iron Hands" Straken was seriously injured, and were subsequently redeployed to assist the Ulani defence battalion. They presumably took part in the Battle of Moden's Ridge, during the Yaquit 27 Campaign, fighting the xenos called the L'Huraxi. The Ogryn Nork Deddog is also known to have served under Colonel Greiss within the II Regiment.

During a year-long guerrilla war fought on the world of Dulma'lin in the subterranean depths of the cavern of the planet, a single regiment of Catachan Jungle Fighters, led by the bombastic Colonel Straken, earned a fearsome reputation amongst the Ork tribes. When the Catachan scouts located the centre of the Ork city in a massive underground cavern known as the Mommothian Vault, Straken personally lead a handpicked team of demolitions experts and infiltrated the Ork settlment. On the third day of the operation the Catachans' presence was detected by a roving pack of Squig-hounds and in the ensuing fight Straken was seriously injured when he dragged Ork Warlord Killzkar into the path of a stampeding Squiggoth which trampled them both into the cavern floor. Straken survived his grievous injury, but the Ork Warboss was not so fortunate.

Nork Deddog

Nork was selected by the Schola Progenium to serve in the Imperial Guard due to his ability to write his name (N is for Nork), count (to four), and even speak fluently and understand orders without hesitation or difficulty, this being a rare milestone in Ogryn development as the majority of Ogryns would find these tasks very difficult, if not impossible. He was taken out of the normal stream of Imperial Guard warfare and underwent biochemical neural enhancement (possibly the same process used in the creation of Bone 'eads) as well as extensive martial training. Nork was then assigned as the Ogryn bodyguard of Colonel Greiss, the commanding officer of the II Catachan Regiment of the Imperial Guard. Nork is a genius by Ogryn standards, and is also the only Ogryn to have ever been assigned directly to serve a Commissar. He was assigned to guard the life of Colonel Greiss and did so faithfully. The sight of the colonel and his Ogryn bodyguard became a familiar one during the II Catachan's four-year-long campaign on Balor; the bone-thin colonel bawling out his orders whilst shells burst around him and bullets ricocheted off Nork's dense skull.

Colonel Greiss implicitly trusted Nork with his life, which has been saved by his loyal bodyguard and friend on many occasions, most notably at the Disaster at Breakback Hill, where Nork pulled an entire damaged Chimera transport vehicle across the battlefield when asked by his commander to simply retrieve a medi-kit. He then carried his wounded leader out of battle and to safety whilst being shot at by thousands of enemy troops and seemingly feeling no pain. On another occasion Nork carried the badly wounded Catachan commander back from the disaster at Hill-Gamma Zero. When Ork Warboss Uglurk Gitsmasha and a mob of his hardest Meganobz charged the Imperial Guard's command dugout, Nork Deddog was the only one to stand his ground beside Sub-overlord Ven Vambold. Nork killed the massive Greenskin Warlord with a single headbutt of such extreme violence that the remaining Orks were totally awestruck and retreated rather than face the angry Ogryn in further combat.

Nork's own body has proven time and again to be the most effective shield an Imperial Guard officer can have against enemy fire. Nork will do his utmost to protect his master from harm, even going so far as to throw himself in front of enemy fire. On the world of Follax IV, Nork selflessly leapt on top of an enemy grenade that would have otherwise killed Commander Richep, crushing both the grenade and the Grenadier who threw it to a bloody pulp beneath his massive bulk. The resultant explosion was muffled by Nork's body -- the Ogryn bodyguard seemingly noticed his resulting shrapnel wounds with only passing curiosity. Nork has personally saved the lives of over a hundred Imperial Guard officers and by doing so has been instrumental in securing victories on dozens of worlds. Though the Ogryn has a large collection of medals, laurels, citations and personal gifts, Nork cares not for trinkets and baubles. He continues to serve rather for the content feeling he gets when fighting alongside a good friend.

Gunnery Sergeant Harker, nicknamed "Stonetooth" Harker by his comrades in the Catachan Jungle Fighters, is one of the most renowned warriors hailing from Catachan to ever serve in the Imperial Guard. He is so exceptionally resilient that all who have served with him believe that the creature who can kill him simply has not yet come into being. Harker serves in Colonel "Iron Hand" Straken's II Regiment of the Catachan Jungle Fighters, the equally-renowned "Catachan Devils" who have a reputation for getting the job done, whatever the odds against them. Harker is the most senior Sergeant of the regiment, and leads his hand-picked team of veterans with the patience and cunning of the most dangerous of predators. In addition to being his squad's leader, Harker doubles up as the squad's heavy weapon specialist, wielding his trusted Heavy Bolter named Payback as easily as other Guardsmen wield their Lasgun.

All Catachans have a reputation for being tough bastards. Indeed, the Death World of Catachan is renowned for being one of the most hellish places in the galaxy, where humans have to learn to shoot before they can walk to survive, and every native living form can be deadly to the unwary. Imperial Guard soldiers hailing from Catachan have a well-deserved reputation for being tough, cunning, hard to kill and extreme survivalists.

"Stonetooth" Harker is renowned for being recognised as the "toughest grox-lovin' fragger that has ever lived" by his fellow Catachan soldiers. This means that to a baseline human, Harker appears to be more of a force of nature than a mere man. Rumours and stories of his exploits abound, one of the most outlandish claims being that he chews shards of glass instead of tobacco and laughs it off. While this particular rumour might be an exaggeration, he has been known to place his hands into fire and ignore it, and easily shrug off blade cuts or gunshot wounds. To Harker, pain and bleeding are concerns for weaker soldiers, for which he personally has no time.

Sergeant Harker is a giant of a man for a non-Astartes, even by Catachan standards. His gigantic frame is covered with slabs of muscle and sinew. His strength is such that he carries his Heavy Bolter Payback as easily as a normal man might carry a Lasgun, without even breaking a sweat. Harker is a long-serving veteran of the Imperial Guard, and there is not a single aspect of warfare that he has not mastered. From rescue missions to assassination, from reconnaissance to demolitions, whatever the job, Harker will get it done. His hand-picked squad members are exceptional even among their fellow Catachans, and his squad is composed of the II Catachan's bravest veterans. Their specialty is to conduct long-range penetration raids deep behind enemy lines, unleashing havoc upon the Emperor's foes and bearing the brunt of the enemy's response when battle is finally joined.

The most famous example of Harker's bravery occurred during a battle against Tyranids on the twilight world of Jorn V, where his squad was assaulted by a pack of Raveners bursting from beneath that planet's black soil. Within seconds, his ammunition loader was torn apart by monstrous claws while the rest of his squad were trying their best to stay alive. Without missing a beat, Harker leapt onto the back of the closest beast and caught it in a bear hug, crushing the bioform's spine between his monstrous biceps despite the beast's frenzied efforts to throw him off. After dispatching the first Ravener bare-handed, Harker then coolly picked up Payback and opened fire on the rest of the swarm of Tyranids at point-blank range, ripping alien bodies apart in a shower of ichor. Having eliminated the threat, and seeing that all his comrades were dead, he stalked off to find the rest of his company.

Sly Marbo is a member of the Catachan XIV Regiment and is considered the best camouflage expert and sniper in the entire regiment. He has also been referred to as the "one man army" by his commanding officers and fellow Catachans. He often works completely alone in the field, shadowing his regiment's squads as they travel through dense jungles, acting as their sniper support. Little is known of Marbo's past, but it is hinted that he and his nine brothers joined a Catachan regiment that was wiped out -- only Marbo survived, returning to his post with a severed enemy commander's head with a bullet hole between the eyes. Marbo apparently stares vacantly into space in the time between assignments, and few have heard him speak; both attributes unsettle commanders who encounter him, but none can argue with the results of his solo missions or his combat effectiveness.

Mentioning Griess is confusing - he was the CO of the Cat2nd before Straken. Also, Marbo is gone from the AM codex.
As a catachan player (and templars) I find the inclusion of vehicles a bit odd, but they do provide tactical advantage.
