Went into the store: All rule books for all armies and the BRB, End Times, Expansions have all been taken off the shelves and replaced with: Age of Sigmar posters.

So I'm the only one who thinks the new setting, emphasis on varied deities, new ways of building an army and potentially interesting new range of models sounds rather exciting?

I don't get it, I admit I'm on the outside looking in here since I don't play fantasy, I have some Brets and Lizardmen, but it just seems like they are changing a heck of a lot, End Times was one thing, it was a conclusion to a story, but this? I just don't get it at all.

Looking forward to seeing how much, if any, of this is true. A new range of models and a new rule set would be something I would buy into.

Yes.

Imagine a game that you have loved and grown up with. Say Spyro, or acrash Bandicoot or Sonic, and they announce they are doing a reboot for next gen.

Only instead of a platform treasure hunter puzzler game witha cute little dragon, bandicoot or blue hedgehog, you get a Gears of War clone. Now, while Gears of War may sound fun and attractive, those people who actually care about the game and supported it and likely bought into it because of its name are horrified that the game they have grown to love and read into its background is completely gone, and shares characters like some cross genre slash gay porn story sharing names only because it puts across a sense of false validity.

It is seriously fucking shit. While in the past people got ratty about rules changes and things getting nerfed, you now have people alienated over an entire fucking games system. Maybe you werent around when Epic and Necromunda were removed. I took some Battlefield Gothic models into a store a few months ago, and got told to basically fuck off by a staff member because they weren't warhammer or 40k.

LotR got canned because it wasn't propely supported, but the actual rules? They were pretty fucking awesome for a skirmish game. This? It won't be supported, and is trying to grab peoples attention seemingly from other skirmish games.

While big huge armies were offputting for some people to collect, it should have been rectified in other ways than canning an entire fucking game system and background, and then as is seemingly happening, telling long term players who have spent ages playing and xollecting that their money and time isn't worth shit because they're boarding the hype train.

While I've been critical of GW and its business practises, this time, i'm going to be insulting to the people who have designed it, and label them as absolute cunts, and will proceed to boycott fantasy.

imagine seeing your entire Raven Guard army invalidated, becaue GW talk a marker pen to the games setting and in 8th edition 40k said that space marines following the Horus heresy were all killed and no longer exist. Oh, and Eldar got beat by slaanesh, so now ally with Daemons freely, orks are the embodiment of the Tau greater good and their method of battle is now peace mantras unil the enemy fall asleep, and the imperial guard all get eaten by tyranids, leaving tyranids as the prime rulers of the galaxy, only they got bored and moved on.

I'll go through the End Times books andd i'll,show you exactly why we're devastated th a t those stuffed shirt accuntants no that is not a typo have fucked up this game so badly.

a lot of fantasy players see their armies becoming invalidated and obsolete. and thats just one point.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a new game and setting, but they didn't have to delete the old one to do it.

From the conversation i had with the local store manager yesterday. The End Times was supposed to just be a campaign to lead to this, not a game in itself (which to be honest i would of preferred the End Times to last longer.)

I know alot of people who will not be happy with it, as im not as GW are basically 'boxing up' a full 1/2 of all the races with them either being combined or rolled into other armies as mercenaries (Dwarves and Ogres for example being put in the 'Human' book.)

I sense a great disturbance in the warp. As if a million nerds all read something in stunned silence before crying out in a vast outpouring of nerdrage. I fear something terrible has happened.
