Lesser Daemons w/Thousand Sons

After everything else (a little left to try) I have used in games from my C:CSM, I have finally rolled around to what I think might work. Being TS are soo expensive I thought of only using them in bigger games and with Lesser Daemons to help them survive. As for my question...do you all think this a good idea? To field them together?

well lesser deamons are cheap, they score but most importatntly they can keepo your TS's out of combat so my vote is yes it is a good idea :3

For objective grabbing, you could plonk the Thousand Sons on the objective then summon a layer of Daemons in front of them to slow down the enemy advance.

I think that would be a good tactic (never thought of it myself) and hopefully if it all plans out you'll also get another round of shooting at the enemy, so hopefully thier won't be much left!

How ironic it is that as fast as we spread progress and hope throughout the galaxy, the Tyranids spread death and despair. Only united can we hope to stand against them.

Well I plan on using the list I have come up with containing this tactic against a SM chapter (possibly BT). As long as I remember I shall post a run down of how the game went.

My advice with lesser daemons is to field them in as many squads as possible. As in if you have 30 go for 6 squads of 5 instead of 1 squad of 20 and one squad of ten. This is to give more tactical abilty as if they come in in one place but you wanted them in another later you'd still have some in reserve. Also it improves the chance of them arriving and makes DS easier. As well as this it means that the casualties caused are reduced as:
1)less hits from blasts/templates
2)they can only kill a maximum of 5 with one squads fire.
This is a major disadvantage in annihilation as its lots of free kill points for the enemy so this tactic only works when you know which mission you will be playing and it doesn't involve kill points.

Well, I actually played against WH yesterday using this tactic and it ended up being that 2 squads of 10 took out 2 executioners on the turn they came in and finished off a squad of sisters (not sure what they are exactly called).

alright my oppinion with lesser daemons ive used them ive won with them and i like them. for anhilation they are only good against things that have bad armor saves like nids tau orc. anything 3+ or better will only be bruised by lesser daemons. i like them a lot on objectives though you put a squad with an icon on the objective then when you role your reserves you put the squad around the objective in a circle this keeps stuff from getting with in 3 inches of the objectives and even cooler about the objectives is now you dont have to worry about jump infantry of skimmers from flying on top of your objective on the last turn to contest they cant awesome huh. oh and its best to use them in 10-20 man squads because you want bulk if you have a 5 man squad they just get brushed aside without doing anything. as far as your TS well i have never used them before but i know there bolters are strength 4 ap3 so i imagine an assualt based marine army is going to want to avoid getting shot so when playing the marines dont take lesser daemons take anti tank units like preds or havocs or even chosen with meltas, because you get those marines out of rhinos they just lost the game because you will desecrate them. plus you want blast weapons off the table thats my input. oh and just to add you are a chaos player you have the ability to chose wehther a squad asaults you or doesnt and this ability is called a slaanesh daemon prince with lash of submission if something you do not want asaulting your TS just shoot them first rapid fire then if they are still not dead and you are afraid the number of the squad will whip your squad in close combat all you have to do is lash them 2d6 away from your squad. so if you wanted an alternative to lesser daemons there you go.

I prefure to use Lesser daemons in units of 10. for a few reasons;
1 - Becuase they don't scatter with deep strike(as they HAVE to DS within 6" of an Icon).
2 - a unit of 10 isn't so large they attrat alot of fire but not so small they they are an easy kill point
3 - All but Nurgle have Daemons in boxes of 10 now making them easy to collect and if your going with Thousand sons you'll be wanted to use Horrors for fluff.
4 - Invurable saves mean that only a few weapons won't give them saves(Psycannons or Necron War sythes)
