Default Defiler...range or combat?

Just wondering how you guys use your defiler, a ranged unit using its battle cannon to blow up tanks and MEQ's, or just charge with it? reasons why would be cool aswell, and i use it as a ranged unit, gotta love that battle cannon

Well, we were just talking about this with the Soul Grinder, basically the same model. With it having fleet and high armor, it is great at taking out many squads or tarpiting for a long time. I dunno with the Defilier, but with SG you can get it with no upgrades and it's a fairly cheap CC walker.

I usually sit back with mine, though I have plans to try the CC walker soon.

Move forward while shooting, then charge whatever is silly enough to get in your range Thats the way to do it.

I made one of each, and use them for both all the time.

I share your love of the battlecannon, but you gotta love a fleet walker that has 5 S10 attacks for 150 pts. I just wish the CC arms looked a little better, and that they came two to a box.

problem i find with it as CC is its really big target to shoot at and has quite low armour

Yer i run mine like gobbo's. As you sort of benefit from both of his strengths this way. i also like mine with 2 extra combat arms as the only ranged weapon you really need is your trusty battlecannon.

Agree with the Grot above, CC weapons are ftw. Ive built mine to have 6 legs and 2 claws, more looking like a scorpion with the Battlecannon in the tail.
The Defiler have fleet, there aint a bloody reason in hell not to max out CC weapons on it
Move forwards each turn and fire. If/when you suffer weapon destroyed start fleeting instead

^^^
totally agree!!! The only weapon that that thing needs in the cannon. Shoot at something and then charge a tank and call it a day as it makes up its points on 1 turn.
