Default heavy weapon tactics!?

i saw a tactic used in a game by someone who got a platoon and gave 2 squads of troops chrimera's then got 2 heavy weapon squads with bolters...
he then on first turn put the heavy weapons in the chrimeras and kept them back

the tactic was really good as he gave them camo-netting, and put them behind cover
he also had 2 heavy bolters on the chrimera meaning 5 heavy bolters shooting 15 shots per turn for 150 points it's pretty cheap for what it is and can draw fire from more important tanks in your army (LRBT's or ordnance) and if ignored can be very annoying for your enermy.

aswell, it gives your HWS more survivability (something they usally lack) and even if the tank is taken out you still have 3/5 of the heavy bolters

to me this sounds like a good tactic and i might use one in my army, does anyone have any improvements or see any flaws in this? any coments will help thanks

Default

yeah I used to always use this tactic except with lascannons since I found my lascannon teams were being focused a lot. I do think its a bit over the top though that you can fire heavy weapons out of the chimera, I think when they made the chimera they just didnt want to complicate the 6 emplaced lasguns so said models can fire out the back as if it were open topped so I say use this tactic until they get a new codex and make it something like the gauss broadsides on the necron transport

When life gives you lemons..... BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
