Default DE Snipersquad 2.0

Since the Ally rules were pretty much confirmes as how they are now, I was looking for suitable Allies for my Dark Eldar Cabal. imho, the most effective combination is to take a Farseer and a squad of Rangers. The Rangers can sit back, camp and snipe high-priority targets. But what to do with the Farseer? You can't put him in a transporter and send him to the front. Letting him join the Rangers is pointless. So how bout we take a small squad of trueborns with 2x Dark Lances and buff the shit out of them?

4x Trueborns
+ 2x Dark Lance
-> 98pts

1x Farseer
+ Runes of Warding
+ Any psychic power that you then exchange for "Prescience"
-> about 90pts

What do you guys think?

Funny, I was actually thinking along similar lines ... including both a Farseer as well as a unit of Rangers in my future Dark Eldar lists.

Of course, sticking him with the Dark Lances would be fun, but what makes you believe he'd be useless accompanying the Rangers ?

Six Pathfinders.
One Farseer with Doom (from the Codex) and Prescience (the Divination primaris power).
Six Shots.
Sniper, Precise Shots, Rending, Pinning, re-roll to hit, re-roll to wound, a hit of 5 or 6 grants you AP1, failing that a to-wound roll of 6 would still get you AP2. Plus the wound allocation when you roll a 6 to-hit ...
Also, these guys would get +3 to their cover saves, grating them a 2+ on most occasions.
Of course, they'd cost twice as much as the Lance Born above, heh.
But for holding an objective ...
So, how's that useless ?

WHFB Armies: Vampire Counts / Empire / various Elves
Horus Heresy: Alpha Legion / Warp Cult

Well, if you let him join them, don't they loose the cover bonus? and how do you get AP2 with a to-wound roll of 6?

They don't lose Stealth, just the ability to Infiltrate and Outflank when the Farseer joins them. IMHO they'd be awesome to camp on an objective in your own half of the table.
But sure, we'll only know for sure once we played a few games in that configuration. I'll be giving it a shot some time soon.

Ah right, totally missed that one xD

Yes, they nominally get +2, thus in ruins or trenches (4+) they'd have a 2+ cover save, and in forests or other area terrain (5+) they'd still get a 3+ cover save.
