Yep, agree with all that. When it's paid for, the destroyer body becomes a part of the Lord rather than him riding it which is why his base T goes up to 6 rather than becoming 5(6). This makes him immune to Instant Death completely (no Weapon is higher than S 10).

A res orb give him the chance to get back up.

I rarely take an orb with my 'crons. There are better things to spend points on

hu? you for real? 40pts for always get up (power weapons/ double toughness) what could you better spend 40pts on? 2 warriors? res orb used right is the best thing they have imo.

I do sometimes use veil of darkness on my Lords, I find the movement it gives really useful and being able to move units out of combat is invaluable

Veil of darkness is not 40pts ;) and anyways I would run both together lord on foot with veil and res orb (if there was 0-1 monolith) or lord on destroyer body with res orb warscythe and phalactery if there were 2 liths.

I don't take them because they make for boring lists and opponents who cry cheese. The Necron wbb rule is good enough for me and I win most games without taking either an orb, a 'Lith or the VoD :D

well if you combine the res orb and phylacetery-thingy then he can get back up from ID AND possibly regain his 3 wounds ASWELL, which becomes thoroughly annoying, add a destroyer body and a warscythe and hes one evil killing machine!

That also means your relying on your lord too much though, while he is a key asset there are other purposes for him especially with a lith and tomb spiders to back up a lacking orb

ohh no i dont rely on him at all, i use other units diligently. he jus helps in CC. he pisses off people with that set up. thats basically the only reason hes like that. anyway i dont play necrons anymore, ive moved to SM
