Default Wysiwyg?

Had this come up in a discussion today so I am here seeking a bit of clarification from you all, if you would....

I know that WYSIWYG applies to IC's, but....does it apply to all other models in your army that are not IC's. For example: Space Wolves have for standard equip a bolter, a bolt pistol and a CCW. Do I need to give each of my models all three of these weapons if they are to use them? And does this apply to grenades as well?

Not that I ever expect it to be an issue playing friends, but if I ever were to go elsewhere I'd like to know for sure and set up my models accordingly.

As usual, thanks in advance for the insight...

ok i believe that it doesnt matter on normal squads, by default they have the weapons, but it doesnt matter if they are not modelled with them, so you can have a model with BP & CCW, and still shoot with a Bolter because it is already an item of wargear

I am usually just a stickler for WYSIWYG on upgraded gear, like Plasma guns or Power Fists. If a model normally comes with it then it is assumed they have it regardless of the actual model.

Strange, but not a Stranger.

Some characters actually state they do not require this like I believe Inquisitors do.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure with wysiwyg you only have to show optional stuff. Anything thats manditory is already implied.

The general rule of thumb is to show anything out of the ordinary and keep the models from confusing your opponent.

Inquisitors state that their retainers may carry their wargear but it still counts as them having it if the retainer dies.

All sound advice here. I'd even refer to fantasy, which says not all models in a unit need to be equipped exactly the same, as long as it's obvious what equipment the unit has. So long as it's obvious who has upgrades, I can't see anyone but the most anal of jerkholes taking issue.

Unfortunately, in my experience, this hobby draws anal jerkholes like screaming 12 yr. olds to a Twilight autograph session.

I sometimes have a problem with WYSIWYG. I change my list fairly often, trying out different builds for different things. I don't feel the need to have 5 different HQ's with me. That and the inquisitor and canonness models are pretty restrictive as far as modelling is concerned.
That and my marine bike commander is modeled so that he has a power sword, lightning claw and storm bolter. Because it looks cool.

Eh. The same goes for magic. And most sports. And the comic crowd.

Anything with it's own specialty stores pays the asshat tax. We get our own little insulated environment, the world makes sure to throw it's excess asshats in there with us.

Her(?) name may be slightly inapropriate, but she just needs love! And I just need to eat your face!
