i would presume so but you would have to look under 40k rules for special rules he has

The Avatar may gets instant killed, as he has nothing in his rules (like eternal warrior of the demon prince) that'd negate ID rule.

i take it monsterous creatures cant be IKed?

i thought he was invulernable to instantly killed.

yes, but he is also t6, so the only things that could instant kill him are things like force weapons.
