if you think that will make GW roll over and re-write a two year old book to please power gamers who are being out powergamed I believe you are mistaken
but to please shareholders/business leaders by milking the largest army fanbase again?
SM's are GW biggest seller- of course they will tried to throw a new Codex out as soon as they deem the fanboy's won't cry 'to soon'.

Browsed through the new DA codex today and took a look at the Combat Squad rules.

1. Certain DA squads (tac, dev, vet, scout) can only be bought as 5 or 10 man squads (3 or 6 for Bikes). Base cost for the initial five guys and then a set cost for the additional five guys.

2. If bought as 10 (or 6 for bikes), you can split them when you deploy them into two 5-man squads (3 for bikes). Both combat squads are deployed at the same time but may be deployed as far apart as you want.

3. Each combat squad becomes a scoring unit and is separate for VPs from the other combat squad. However, VPs for the squad are determined by halving the full squad cost, regardless of what weapons go where, etc. Their example was a 10 man squad with las/plas might cost 200 points, when split into two combat squads, each is worth 100 VP, even if one combat squad has both the big guns in it.

4. I didn't catch anything on how it handles a transport if one is bought for the squad, sorry.

anything about weapon distribution and whether you had to have the full squad to get the heavy?

I think thats one they've messed up already, If Its escalation and you have a Razorback dedicated for your two squads what happens then?

As for weapon distibution It's fine to have 5 man squads with either/or but not both special and heavy.
I can Imagine you may see a few 10 man combinations similar to the follwowing:

5 x Marines
Lascannon

5 x Marines
Melta Gun
Power Weapon
Rhino / Razorback

Wait untill you see the costs for vehicles!
The base costs are really low but from what I can remember extra armour costs the same as a basic marine, LC sponsons on a pred cost the same as 4 x SM's!
Could see some Interesting configurations.....

Certianly interesting to see how much the sheer basic universal marine stuff has been changed. There's no way these radical points overhauls are going to be strictly DA...this is definately a whiff of SM redux to come.

But surly if you buy a 10 man squad, you cannot buy a razorback, even if you intend to split the squad.

I would have thought that only a 5 man squad can have the razorback, leaving the 10 man squad to take the rhino.
