Meltabombs

After playing Nids the other day, with a tuff Carni, i just wondered ;
is it possibly to use a meltabomb against a monstrous creature ?
The carni is after all the tank of the Nids.

Vehicles specifically I believe, sorry. MCs don't have an AV (not to mention being listed separately as Monstrous Creatures and not Vehicles). What you want, sir, to deal with those MCs are PFs and MM/MGs.

Sadly not. Indeed, high S low AP gunz and strength doubling powerweapons is what you need. ( Powerfists, chainfists, eviscerators.. )
Or stuff that auto-wounds on a 2+

The only faction that could use grenades against MC where the old Tyranid hunters from the old SM codex.

Thank You for the advices.
But I would have loved to to see the carni evaporate.
So the attackbike with MM just have to get into it.And the VAS with PF.

I would suggest investing in thunder hammers\storm shield terminators to deal with the carnifex at least they have a save after it whacks them.

A little further off topic... Another good way to bring down 'nid MCs, albeit more situational, is to set up a good multi-assault. Take a nice reliable assault unit, one that can score a lot of CC wounds, and assault a unit of gaunts. If the 'nid player is careless with his gaunt screen, or if you have a large/mobile assault squad you should be able to get one model into base-to-base with an MC. You can pretty much guarantee smashing the unit of guants (and losing a unit or two to the MC). The MC is effectively fearless and will be forced to make several armor saves based on how many wounds he lost the close combat by. I've found it incredibly easy to set up such an assault with BA (gotta love those jump packs), and rob them of more than a few dakka 'fexes. If you have a PF or TH in the squad it'll be all the more insurance that you smash the MC like the big DNA-assimilating bug it is. The tactic works with a good share of difficult to wound, fearless MCs/Units. The key things are... unit you want to die is fearless, unit that is easy to kill is within multi-assault range of fearless unit, and you have a reliable amount of CC wounds to put on the pud squad near fearless unit.

The hardest part of doing the above is convincing your friends that Fearless is a good rule after doing it to three 'fexes in one assault phase. If their MC is tooled for CC it gets more risky, though not as risky as confronting the creature directly in some circumstances. A melee tyrant you still want to just gun down, but taking down the 'fexes this way frees up your shooting to do just that.

Ok. Thanks for the advice. Have to studie those rules.

By the the way, I have just learned another way to do it. Deep striked with Furioso DC in droppod. Scattered right into the Carni. It assaulted and got 4 Hits back. Love that extra D3 when it hits the 6.
