Default use of old models

I have a few old models, transports, that are too small by current standards. Are the tournament legal?

As always, it's up to the event organizer. For non-GW events, many TOs don't even require GW/Citadel miniatures. The US GTs have always allowed older models in the past. Best bet is to contact whoever is running the event and ask them.

If they're GW models like old rhinos or Land Raiders there shouldn't be a problem. Other stuff....up to the organsier and opponent.

They are genereally allowed if the organiser says so, it's so, Opponent have no say in whether they be old or new if by tournaments standards it's fine. Opponents can just forfiet if they don't like it.

I have never been to a tourney where they have told people they could not use old models. I know that even GW has pics of recent GTs with people playing all old model armies making them very fluffy and fun.

Personally, I would not care if my opponent was using old models in a game, as long as they comply with up-to-date rules and guidelines.

Where would it stop if they had that rule? We'd all be up a creek without a paddle every time a new model came out.

Unfortunately its not like that everywhere, I know 2 people who were banned from a fantasy tournament not long ago, and it was a proper GW tournament, 1 for using an old OOP Dark Elf sorceress and converting his cold ones with tiny pennants on his lances (which his opponent argued he couldn't tell which was the unit bearer even though he had a massive well hand painted flag), and another for using an OOP dragon (even though his opponent didn't mind), when they argued the ruling (without threats or swearing, just basic arguing/challenging) they were told to leave the premises and were not allowed to take further part in the tournie.

at that point the dragon guy shouted at the staff member to F off.........and I don't blame him
