Default Chaos preds- how can they die?

when we played in the shop the other day i play a guy who used chaos and he said his pred couldn't die and it just repared itself and blew me up when his next turn came. Can all chaos do this or is it just the pred's? He couldn't find it in his codex but the guy who works there said he could do it so i guess he can. How do you kill chaos preds if they can't die. I thought maybe i could immobilise it behind some cover but my landspeeder got nailed but a infiltrating squad with heavy weapons. Also when you infiltrate the chaos with heavy weapons do you have to say before the game, because if i'd known i would have spread my army a bit more so his infiltrate would have been harder. He was a good opp though and was a laugh to play with so i didn't mind but i'm getting some chaos soon and maybe i will use pred's if they are so much harder to kill then dreds

A Chaos predator will die, they have an upgrade that allows then to repair Immobilized and Weapon Destroyed results but if the tank is destroyed or explodes then it is gone. Whoever it was did not read their Codex correctly and cheated you.

Duty is as heavy as a mountain, but Death as light as a feather; only in Death does Duty end.

oh well i do think he probably just got it wrong because he told me some stuff about my army that helped me out and didn't seem like he would bother cheating if he did that. Would have made a big difference to the game though as i kept shooting it with stuff and not doing much. Next time i will remember that and will ask for a rematch and we will see

Good luck, hopefully you can beat the foul powers of chaos.

any chaos vehicle can have an upgrade which lets hem ignore shaked and stunned results (i think) and a second one which lets them roll for weapon and immoblilsed as The Wildonion said. nothing which ignores destroyed results though.

Wait. You didn't find it at all odd when he said this?

Parasitic Possession is an upgrade that lets a vehicle ATTEMPT to repair damaged components (i.e. immobilized or weapon destroyed results.) It's not a sure thing. It's better than the "restart on a 6" rule that the Rhinos have, but it's the same general concept.

Daemonic Possession, on the other hand, is like super extra armour. It completely ignores ALL stunned and shaken results.

If you happen to have daemonhunters (which plenty of players who frequently play against Chaos armies do because they can't figure out how to win with their stock army lists...) then most of the anti-daemon hardware works against vehicles with those upgrades since they're "daemonic" in nature.

I think you toke him to literally. As in saying:

"Anything that gets in 18" of my monolith dies!"

Of course you don't die by bieng a certain length from a model. He probaly used the same form of speaking.

Unforutnately, Jake, the second part of the second party's comment seems to rule out your theory.
