Well I only just started using them as allies to deathwing, but found them incredibly fun and very effective with drop pod dreads and death company supporting a deathwing assault.

I don't think the fact that 100% deep striking assault squad lists aren't legal anymore is the biggest nerf to BA's anyway...The Furious Charge (No +1I) and Power Weapon (AP3 standard) rules changes are probably more significant.
I think this FAQ compensates to some degree the loss of pure assault deep striking lists. At least you can still drop pod assault squads (albeit without jetpacks) and it wont count towards the limit. And then you can have Death Company in Ravens, still 100% legal.
