Default toughness test?

in the daemon codex, the power boon of mutation says that the target must take a toughness test or be transformed into a chaos spawn.

could someone tell me what a toughness test is please?

in the chaos codex you just have to roll D6 over the targets toughness so is this the same or not.

yeah, a toughness test is just roll equal to or under toughness to pass, over and you fail, I'm not sure where it might mention it in the rule book though. So the difference between that and the chaos codex is I suppose that the person being spawned rolls the dice, rather than the person using the power.

Not positive about this but i think you always fail if you roll a 6 even if you have 6 toughness or more.

I believe if you look at the Index for the word toughness, it will point you to the rules, since I have seen them in the rule book, I just don't have the PG number handy.

As explained, you simply roll under your existing toughness, making it harder for weaker units.

It's important to note that the Daemon Codex and the Chaos Codex powers, while similar, do not follow the same rules. Anything with a T6 or greater is immune to toughness tests. Whereas the Chaos power always works on a 6 no matter what. And of course, one is a innate power that may be used without recourse, while the other is a psychic power and may be defended against.

Pondering...

"fail" meaning that you get turned into a chaos spawn right?

Just making things clearer

It's fully explained in the 5th ed rules (which is what the codex was written for).
