Default Targeting characters in Close Combat

In 5th edition, you had the option to make strikes against a character that was in base-to-base or to the unit as a whole.

Does this still exist in 6th edition or was it more or less replaced by Challenges?

it's gone. ICs are now just treated as a member of the squad, except for challenges.

characters and IC also have the ability on 6's to hit to direct their attacks in shooting and in CC. so say your IC charges in and has 5 attacks if 3 roll 6s then you may direct those 3 at what target in the CC you want.

Can you split the precision strikes? e.g in your case have 2 against one guy and 1 against another. But yes ICs count as just being part of the unit, however if they are in base to base then they are likely to get the wounds because the wounds are allocated to the closest models and randomly allocatated if there are models equidistant

Me: To be honest im amazed there isn't a chaos god of not revising or at least chaos god of procrastination

MidnightSun: There will be, when enough people do it. Y'know when the Eldar were all engaging in their hedonism and Slaanesh ripped open the Eye of Terror with his creation? Slaanesh will have NOTHING on the God of Procrastination, and his vile minions will carve the galaxy asunder in a thousand year reign of blood.... Tomorrow

Precision shots/hits allow you to step outside normal wound allocation and yes you can allocate to as many enemy models as you wish. Have a good read of pg 63 mate, it's all there.

Except it is not random. Owning player gets to choose who takes the wound out of the models in btb. Page 25m main rulebook.

My bad, it says wounds are allocated just like shooting, and for shooting it says for equidistant models, randomly allocate. Didn't see the bit in the CC section on wound allocation when there are multiple models in base contact
