Default 6th Edition Points

Does anyone know what the standard game size is these days? I was reading the new BRB and realized that 2,000 point games were no longer the "standard" when I came across the part that said "If you're playing a game of 2,000 points or more, you can take an additional primary detachment."

I'm curious as to what you are all seeing as the new primary game.

Hive Fleet Tarasque/The Black Legion of Khemri
Battles: 13/3
Wins: 8/2
Minor Wins: 0/0
Minor Losses: 1/0
Losses: 4/1

Anything below 2000 pts. is what I consider a normal game, and anything above is a big game as you can take multiple detachments, allowing for a more specialized and crazy army.

"Trying to make some sense of it all,
When I can see it makes no sense at all"

"Fools to the left of me,
Jokers to the right,
Here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you."

Depends on your local gaming scene I'd recon. We still play big and small games where I'm at, it just depends on what you have and where you are.

Tournies here are 1500 or 1850 with occasional 2k.

I always thought 1000-1500 was far more common than 2000, especially for time and cost

Around here it was 1750 to 2k for the casual games. The tournies have been 2k-2500 and the ones that are currently being setup for the new rule set in the next few months are all 2k with a restriction of no 2nd FoC.

2K was the norm here for a 3-round tourney. We have a 4-round that was 1800 but that's a special circumstance.

Now it'll probably be 1,999. I'd really like to try the 2 FOC things though. At low points it shouldn't get too idiotic.

Strange, but not a Stranger.

I agree, I've seen a lot of people making 1,999 lists. I think there is going to be a fine hair on the 2k pt lists and you will probably see a posting for a 1999 tourny which ends up meaning, you get 2k points without the extra FOC. Or they'll stick with the 1999 pts. time will tell.

Nova open was thinking of changing to 1999+1. So basically 2k and one force org. But it liked the idea of double force org, as with the new brb missions your troops/scoring units are very important to have and balance out any crazy 6 elites/heavy/fast list builds. plus most allies cant score or contest so your better off taking things from your book most of the time anyway.

It takes a pack of Wolves to tree a Lion... here is hopping the new DA codex reflects that.

I think people are still wary of the extra force org because there are a lot of cheesy things you can do with it. What people fail to realize, I think, is that the second force org chart comes with an innate massive cost that severely cripples your ability to spam, and that is namely that you must take a second HQ and two additional troops choices. If for some reason you were running two HQs and four Troops anyway that isn't a big deal, but even in 2k games most people will take, MAYBE two, HQs, and up to three troops. Taking a marshmallow HQ/minimum squad size Troops choice just makes them easy victory points, especially in 2K where you can expect a few blast templates, massive torrents, and soul-crushing assaults a turn. To get that extra psyflenaut/doom scythe/basilisk/trygon/whatever, you must make a massive initial investment into something you may not have actually even wanted.

People will get used to the double FOC, and realize its basically just mini-apocalypse without all the crazy fucked up rules and titans.
