Don't be intimidated bro.

Anyway, he is right- Doesn't make sense fluff wise, but since he isn't actually shooting at anything, simply drawing a line between two points and hitting the models under the line, you don't have to snap fire. RAW? Yes. RAI? Lets wait for an FAQ that isn't a rushjob.

I have a feeling they may give weapons of this type a different profile for shooting flyers. This type of beam is targeting the battlefield, not something in the air above it. i

Seems like this falls under similiar rules for JOWW (if JOWW could effect vehicles anyways), you surely wouldn't be able to "hit" flyers with it (if it could, theoritically speaking, work on them).

But since the Doomscythe is a flier, fluff wise, it could flier slightly higher than another flier and drop the beam down ontop of it, hitting both it and the ground targets.

It's a bloody laser beam. If you fire it through the sky, you're firing it through the sky and it hits stuff in the sky. If you fire it along the ground, it hits stuff on the ground because it's on the ground.

It could indeed fly above another Flyer and fire the Ray down, but then you can only hit one 1mm circle of ground with it.

I just finished my first 6th last night, and I fired it at a flier. In skyfire mode. So it only hit the flier, but wasn't snapshot. We all agreed. It did not destroy the flier, more to my chagrin

Feel free to argue away as long as you keep it civil and avoid personal insult. In fact I am fairly sure that unlike some other sites mods are reprimanded if they abuse their status (Not usually a issue as the mods on this site aren't the vindictive scum you may come by on certain image boards).

In fact if you have a sound rational and popular opinion/the truth on your side you should...nah must speak up as mods have been wrong in the past, and most are happy to admit when they have made a oversight or have just had a massive brain fart.

However in this instance the majority is right as the necrons crazy death lasers don't function like any other weapon in the game so far (Despite hopes to the contrary before the BRB was released).

Seems reasonable, hits one or the other, but not both.

Argue away, its what the forum is for...

Playing nicely and either hitting fliers or ground targets is lovely... but are there actually any rules for it?
Saying that everything on/under the line are hit is by the rules (as I know them) and since you aren't targetting anything in particular it doesn't need to snap fire to get fliers (which you don't need anyway since its from a scythe)...

I might have missed something, but the rules seem quite clear... though admittedly they don't make a lot of fluff sense.
