Mat Ward does stuff both good and bad. The Aeonstave, for example, is completely pointless - he doesn't seem to want to envision how things work within the meta. However, the Necron army plays very well, and for every case of seeming insanity (yes, he does make some rules like an insane person) he does something right.

This is supposed to be a Death Ray rules thread though...

It's not intended to be, its intended to be balanced against the other 5th Ed codexs like Necrons, Space Wolves, Blood Angels etc and it does a very good job of that. I mean the Space Wolf codex is flat out better than the Ork one, is Phil Kelly awful as well now?

I'd love a weapon that allows me to totally nerf an enemy character in close combat, particularly with the new challenge rules.

The only problem is that it's on a WS4, S4, I1, 1A model. It's not a power weapon either. Realistically, it'll only nerf most things 1/4 of the time at most (assuming WS4-8 and T4).

Oopsies, I forgot to say that the 1/4 is before saves. Of which all are allowed. Meaning Draigo is a 1/24 chance of nerfing.

A one in four chance of nerfing Draigo is a bloody good chance to take I'd reckon.
And if it was on a WS7 S6 I7 4A W4 model you'd be saying how much of a knob Ward is for making something so OP.

Just drop it, if you want to argue it out start another thread and leave it out of this one.

Hoorah, these many years have passed and someone has finally recognised my genius and sigged me But seriously, is this case closed? I think it is, logic and basic reading skills have won out against the nerdrage.

Don't even tempt me Mag.

Flying Predator tank with a Str 10 "template" weapon that automatically hits.

Grey Knights bathing in the blood of SoB who can't even kill a single Chaos Dred without the help of Space Marines.

Draigo single handedly taking on the entire realm of Chaos by himself, like a boss.

Should I go on?
