Holy Ordos jurisdiction

I know that the fluff contains deliberate overlaps of authority for the Holy Ordos but would it be the Hereticus or the Malleus who would have jurisdiction over a situation when a planet has been taken over by a Daemon worshipping Chaos Cult?

its more than likely who-ever gets their first.

I would say Malleus as anything Daemonic/Chaos is their juristiction, whereas Ive always thought the hereticus was more for unregistered psykers/witches/heretics

They are pretty equal, as I cant see an Inquisitor really bowing down to another, but the Malleus have the cards in their hands (Exterminatus? Grey Knights? PURGE WITH FIRE!) when it comes to deamonic infestation.

If daemons are present, they would most likely differ to the members of the ordo malleus. However, if no such daemons are present then members of the ordo hereticus would most likely be all that was required.

The Website kept telling me that my profile was only 80% complete without creating a signature. Ain't no website going to tell me I was a lazy shit, no sir.

I am with Gen. Ahab. A whole planet taken over by Daemonic forces is a job for the Malleus. I would say that the Ordo Hereticus would assist to try and get to the bottom of what happened.

I'd say its a Hereticus job to try and stop the cult but should the cult succeed in summoning daemons than it becomes a job for the Malleus. Whether the Hereticus will inform the Malleus or respect their authority is up to the individual inquisitor (as so many of these things are) but I for one would trust the guy with the anti-daemon hammer and glowing armour of awesome to deal with that shit.

Saying that though, Eisenhorn is Xenos, yet hes pretty outstanding at combating both Malleus and Hereticus issues. Inquisitors are all pretty damn versatile and adaptable.

Pretty much agree with MEQinc here. If the cult simply worships a daemon, it would likely be the responsibility of the Ordo Hereticus. If actual daemons were summoned, it's in the gauntleted, Force-weapon wielding hands of the Ordo Malleus.

Well, Hereticus deals with unsanctioned psykers and Malleus deals with daemons, there's considerable overlap since the former usually leads to the latter

Of course, Hereticus also deals with threats entirely unrelated to chaos, such as mutants, secessionists, dissidents/would-be reformers, etc.

I think that's why the Hereticus is more sinister, advocates of democratic governance would be probably be considered a "threat" within their jurisdiction

I think whatever Inquisitor that is closets would get the assignment. Inquisitors are trained to face all kinds of threads within all 3 areas. Its only that they specialize in one of them and join one ordo. They can, if Im not misstaken from 2nd Eisenhorn book, change ordos if they would want to.
