I reckon you could do a pretty decent job by using both the marine book, and maybe some of the chaos weapons from the codex if they have things for demon weapons and such. I was tempted to do either these or the Soul Drinkers myself, but bought some wolves instead.

I reckon you should go for it, it'd be a good log to follow :-)

yeah i plan on making a project log out of the army. i want to incorperate lots of the chaos armory from 3rd ed into this army. it would be for friendly games, but if i wanted to run the list in league or tournaments the models will still be useable. but anyways for my fun games i want to make it where my power weapons or 25 points put they are Dark Blades(or Daemon Weapons). I probably will fluff my army to more of the renegade side so ill be using the chaos codex for the majority of my army, but i like the ideal of running 9 landspeeders so i might be using the vanilla codex.
my army fluff is going to be that the Relictors have given up on the imperium. There thoughts on it is that the emperor turned his back on them, so they shall do the same. so basically my army will be fighting to not regain their honor, but to rebuild and destroy the imperium. I want them to remain independent, so they will not be working with abaddon in his crusades. if they do get assistance it will probably be the dark mechanicus since you really cant not have their skills as a renegade. Plus it works out. i figure the mechanicus and the Relictors could get along since they both like to salvage powerful tools. but who knows i might be making a techmarine fluff that they salvage vehicles from battlefields and fix them up so they can be used again. and my librarians will use dark sorcerery to entomb their own daemons into weapons. only time will tell. all i got to say is be ready for a lot of Green stuff work, and some cool conversions.

http://relictors.moonfruit.com/ The whole web-site has the History and even a Codex though I think it's a little dated these days.
