Default Does it come with Dragons?

40k covers almost all major fantasy elements and places them in a science fiction one. However I was wondering if legit Dragons were a major character in the fluff at all?

I know theres the Void Dragon, but thats a C-tan, and Im pretty sure thats just a title, not an actual dragon esque creature, unless someone can prove me wrong.

I also know the drakes on the Salamanders world, but those can just be seen as beasts, nothing as epic as the counterparts in WH fantasy.

I think it would be cool to see like an Eldar Autarch on like a Wraithbone dragon. Or the first company Salamanders all ride massive Drakes into combat!

They aren't major characters no, but Dragons do exist in Warhammer 40K. I've seen Dragons mentioned multiple times in the Eldar codex (obviously not including fire dragons) and they have been mentioned in other places as well. As for Dragons being ridden, chances are that some group of warriors in some remote part of the galaxy do just that. Seeing as how Dragons seem to be a fairly recognisable creature amongst Eldar, chances are there is some Warrior Aspect that rides dragons.

Quoting the Eldar codex (page 32)
'The Fire Dragon aspect is modelled upon the Dragon of Eldar myth, the sinuous fire-breathing reptile that represents wanton destruction'.

Praise the sun!

Exodite Eldar. These are the Eldar that left the falling Eldar Empire first, voyaging as far away as they could get and settling on empty Maiden Worlds. They eschew almost all technology, although I think they are still Webway linked; they also have a World Circuit, which is basically a planet-sized version of a Craftworld's Infinity Circuit.
Apparently, they ride straight-up Dragons.

GFP has it, there is a short story featuring DA and exodite eldar. The exodite royalty ride dragons.

Technically, the dragons of 40k are called Megadons. I would also like to point out that the c`tan Void Dragon does have the appearance of a griffin/dragon esque creature according to descriptions in Mechanicum.

Nonsense is our Salvation

Oh so the void dragon is a dragon esque creature...So what are the chances of him coming back and kicking ass??

Also what are the chances of humans getting in on these dragons? If the Imperial guard can ride horses and those Grox things, Im sure they can muster a dragon regiment.

Its not unbelievable for them to do such things. I woul for one would love to see Salamanders on Drakes. I guess you could count the as Bike squads or something maybe

Horses and Grox are dumb animals and domesticated by humanity. Dragons (as in the proper, intelligent kind) are unclean xenos filth to be purged with fire.

Besides whats wrong with a tank?

"Look into my eyes, and see your death."
"Let them hate, so long as they fear."

I think that dragons would go along with Eldar/Dark Eldar best, as humanity would just hunt them to extinction.

Yep, that's really useful
