Default Yup, it's another primarch question

Okay, so people always go on about which of the primarchs was the better fighter, who was the most badass in CC, who'd win in a duel etc. So far we've established that the top tier guys there are most likely Sang, Russ, Angron, Curze, Horus & Corax. The thing is, the way I see it is this ain't the fucking middle ages; factions are occupying different star systems and some have weapons that can destroy planets. As such, being good at melee is great and all and nice to brag about but probably not the best way to wage war in the far future.

Considering all this, I was wondering if there has ever been a mention of who the best marksman among the primarchs was (obviously I'm talking pre-heresy here). I think it would be interesting to know who the sharpest shooter among the Emperor's sons was. So, any references or is it just one of those things that's conveniently ignored?

The human appendix. Proof of a higher power. A divine kill switch so to speak.

What kind of mook uses a gun in the 41st millennium when we have awesome glowy swords and sticks?

Pshhh! But if I had to guess, it`d be along the lines of either Alpharius, Horus, or Guilleman...

A good starting point would be to see which ones of them carried guns--and what type--I suppose.

Mort used a custom pistol (lantern)

Alpharius & Omegon both are stated to have used bolters

I believe Vulkan crafted a custom pistol for Khan as well.

There you go.

I dunno why Alpharius come to mind for me either, just does for some reason, maybe because they still use boltguns while the others use pistols.

Vulkan makes intricate guns but that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be a good marksman.

Horus has been shown to favour close combat, but does use a pistol, but can only remember him using it at virtually point blank range.

Mortarion has the Lantern, but while it does seem a fearsome weapon, does not seem like a marksman kind of deal, more of brutal power and spread.

Russ carriers a large pistol of some form, but was just the one aimed shot and no real given distance.

Corax uses a heavy bolter one handed, but he was shooting at a whole mass of troops with a full auto weapon, not gonna be terribly hard to hit. Plus he most definetly favours close combat.

Ferrus had a ornate pistol from Vulkan but never seemed to use it.

Think Angron also had a massive pistol, but is never shown using it

The rest haven't appeared to have used any form of ranged weapon

On that basis, I would give the edge to Vulkan.

Well I would give it to the twins...they both had to be able to use a bolter enough to blend in with the grunts.

Does that strike you as such a feat, though?

Yeah, I'd expect any of the Primarchs to be at least a match for and probably significantly superior to any normal astartes when it comes to marksmanship.
