Default Early Space Marine Armour

I'm really looking to do an original army, and what with all the new Forgeworld models for space marines, I begun thinking about doing one with a large quantity of the earlier style models.

My question how is what chapters would have a large quantity of this type of armour still in use?

Renegades, excommunicate and of course the traitor legions would still use the old armour, before they lost communication with the AdMech.

If you can justify why your chapter wears older armour then why not, have you tried searching the Lexicanum?

Some suits of Ceremonial Armour would be around for most Chapters. Relics and such

Large scale use of anything older than the studded Heresy Armour would take a little bit of justification fluff wise, remembering that SM Legions were broken down into the Smaller Chapter organization after the Heresy.

A new founding could possible get lumbered with older stuff.
Some sort of semi religious reason could be used to justify it I suppose.

Whatever the reason it would have to be convincing to have a Chapter risk using outdated and armour with weak spots.

What MK armour were you thinking of?

I like the MK III Iron Armor, the description about it's use in boarding actions is also kind of appealing.

well just use a chapter thats mostly fleet based, or make fluff up for a fleet based chapter and there you go.

or just use it because you feel like it and damn the fluff.

Blasphemy! :p

I like my armies to have at least a bit of fluff behind them, I was going to make my own but I've gone off it now. Anyone remember the chapter/'s that specialise in boarding actions? I seem to remember one that took great fun in boarding ork hulks.

Edit: Just Found one chapter on Lexicanum. They are the Harbingers, they have appeared briefly during the 3rd war for Armageddon, as well as fighting a long side the Dark Angels. They don't appear to have a colour scheme as of yet tho and there's no mention of their geneseed origins.

I'm not sure if there's been a GW-developed chapter dedicated to boarding action, but the Dark Angels and Blood Angels both took to boarding Space Hulks in the computer game and its sequel, respectively.
