What about the Deathwatch?

Ok so when the Badab war happened Huron Blackheart and thje astral claws betrayed the Emperor. But what about those marines seconded to the Deathwatch. Surely they would not have been available. And second what about the chaplains and those marines who did not want to betray the emperor.

Who says the Astral Claws had any Marines seconded to the Death Watch at that time? Any Marines who didn't want to betray the Imperium would have been killed.

Though you raise a good point what about there dreadnoughts?

If I remember correctly most dreadnoughts are close to dormant unless fighting, so they probably "died in their sleep".

well lets look at it like this if there were deathwatch marines in from the parent chapter they more than likely stay true to the deathwatch seeing how they were part of the parent chapter anymore

I presume you mean to say that Marines in the Death Watch are no longer a part of their parent chapter?

Well the marines are only on loan, they do return to their parent chapter eventually (except in very rare circumstances), but not every Chapter provides marines to the Death Watch- who's to stay the Astral Claws did?

i read a short story once in one of the many BL anthologies about a Corsair wanting to regain his honour and for his betrayal of Huron he was put into a dreadnaught....maybe some of them were...um turned if that is the word to use or the bodies ripped from the dreadnaught and left as carrion whilst he took the dreadnaughts. just a thought

I know which story your talking about, the Corsair tried to help loyalists in locating the Tyrant but he was eventually caught and put into the dreadnought as punishment. Unlike a loyalist dreadnought, the marine was awake while he could do nothing, the sarcophagus kept him alive and nothing more, by the end of the story the thought of being trapped like that was driving him insane.

I think dreadnoughts can turn traitor as every Marine can? Then, chaplains will probably have been killed.
