Default Surrender for the Greater good!

Simple question, do the Tau ever give in? I know that surrendering isn't the wisest tactic in 40k but considering in a lot of fluff the Tau are portrayed as more naive than an incontinent kitten it just got me wondering.

Tau Commander: "We surrender! Such a loss of life does not serve the greater good. Please give us safe passage back to the sept worlds."

*BANG*

Imp Guard General: "No."

I haven't seen them surrender, not exactly the healthiest choice when fighting the imperium. However, In Courage and Honour they did fall back after the imperial fleet arrived and the IG and captain Ventris kicked their respective asses all over the planet.

Tau see no point in keeping land for the sake of it, its completely against fire caste doctrine so they happily fall back. They happily broker truces and mutually benifical peaces (so long as it gives them an advantage) They don't however just give up and lay down arms, fire warriors are trained that their lives are insignificant compared to the greater tau'va and the greater good so happily die for their beliefs.

Tau often use negotiations to stall military action to evacuate civilians and then fire caste personnel

I think the t'au know the enemy they're dealing with at this point. Humans despise all xenos, orks love to kill, necron harvest life, tyranids probably can't even recognize a surrender, and chaos is just happier to see you dead. The t'au may be naive, but after one or two failed surrenders I can't imagine they'd try again.
