1st Vraks Heavy Infantry

Thinking up some sort of background for my army. Mainly because I have nothing better to do with myself...

So I decided I would base it around a unit from Vraks.

Shortly before the fall of Vraks to the powers of Chaos, local PDF and Abrties units attempted to rally together to help fend off the heretical masses pressing down upon them and threatening the planet. By sheer numbers they became overwhelmed and the survivors were forced to retreat to the foothills and mountains surrounding the fortress of Vraks. For two long, bloody years, these survivors fought to survive in the harsh desert environment of Vraks. Utilizing hit and run raids they were able to aquire weapons and precious few vehicles from the enemy. When the Death Korps of Krieg arrived, the regiment began seeing action alongside the Death Korps, however because they were so few in number, and because the planet was turned to Chaos, they never officially appeared on any order of battle, the unit was however given the designation of the 1st Vraks Heavy Infantry and assigned several Commissars and priests from the Ecclesiarchy

Due to the decimation of Vraks' terrain by years of war and with the help of the Death Korps...and the Commissariat; the regiment began drilling on mechanised warfare. Training was rigorous and demanding. The regiment began to specialise in the tactical maneuvers required to fight a war in the open desert. Since Vraks was a world supplying the Cadian system with supplies for war, it adopted the uniform pattern used by the Cadians however because of the terrain accosiated with the planet, they maintained a desert style camoflauge. In honor of the Death Korps and the Dark Angels they fought alongside, the regiment became known as the "Redeemers", vowing to win back their planet at whatever the cost would be and in doing so, reclaim their honor as loyal citizens of the Imperium of Man.

edit: Re-working the background story with the help of Talos and Lord of Rebirth (+rep)

Sounds good. But The War on Vraks is not over yet. The DA destroyed the Spaceport but the war is back into a stalemate. Now the Forces of the WorldEaters have joined the fight and it looks like Chaos will win. But we will have to wait till 3rd book when the Daemons and Inq get involved.
Also Vraks is not a forgeworld it is a supply world but that does not matter to your fluff as it will still be stocked full of Cadian style equipment.

I like the idea your Regiment you could always say that they where the only PDF that did not turn to Chaos and hid out in the desert doing hit and runs till the Krieg came and then they joined up with them. This would make them pretty elite as they would have to survive on there own for 2 years. It would also explain the interest the Comissariat and Ecclesiary have them as they have lived on a Chaos run planet for 2 years so they would be looking for any taint.

ONe problem with that is that Vraks is just a huge storage facility and has pretty much no civilians. Just tons of workers. Also I believe there are only like 8 million workers and I belief pretty much all either went renegade or were killed when the cultist forces took over.

I like it. I can see them have a few Priests. I know they arnt good in game but you could always use them as commissars to show the Ecclesiary looking over them. Also you would be able to include the great looking Death Korps Commissars as I guess the 1st heavy inf would be low on numbers and the Korps would be weary of fighting with them as it could be a trick by the Chaos forces seem how the Alphalegion tricked them.
I can also see them fighting very fiercely to win back there honour and banish the chaos scum from there planet.
So are you starting this army or just making existing fluff for a IG army. I have just started a Traitor guard army using the IA:5 Rules so I guess my army would be your archenemy

It's for an army I'm currently working on.

https://www.heresy-online.net/forums/...ad.php?t=24055

Tomorrows project is the standard bearer, need to file down the cadian flag to remove the cadian style. Plan to do alittle free hand on it. Probably wont be anything special, certainly not Golden Demon standard lol.

I like the DKOK Commissar idea!
