I seem to remember reading somewhere that the fall was what blew out the warp storms that were making warp travel around the galaxy impossible. These warp storms were largely the cause of the age of strife, so when the storms abated thats about when the Emperor began the re-unification of Terra so the fall, by my estimate happened somewhere around M29 allowing for the great crusade to take place in the 250 years following. Thats my take on it anyway

That sounds right. So the Fall had to have happened within a few millenia of the great crusade.

From what i can gather, the fall of the eldar was when their own... self pride got so extreme that it manifested itself in the warp as slaneesh.

This huge explosion or energy with in the warp was what caused many warp rifts, such as the eye of terror. it also made warp travel good as imposible. this being the age of strife.

and it is after the age of strife that the emporer starts his kick ass comback tour.

so basicly, the fall of the elder was whenever the age of strife started, also the same time slaneesh was born, which does mean that slaneesh is like the seond youngest 'thing' in the 40k universe, the youngest being tau chaps

No it ended the Age of Strife as the creation of the Eye of Terror calmed the Warp Storms throughout the galaxy and allowed Warp travel once again and that started the Humanity Comeback Tour.

What is the terror of death? That we die, our work incomplete. But what is the joy of life? To die, knowing our task is done.

Yeah, that was my take on it (from the 2nd Ed Codex: Chaos, I think) - it was the birth of Slaanesh as an entity that created the Eye of Terror and blew away the previous galaxy-wide warp-storms that had (for millenia?) cut off the planets of the first human expansion from each other (which is why the Astartes spent so much time in the Great Crusade re-conquering human worlds).

These warp-storms themselves were caused by the psychic energy Eldar's most depraved desires manifesting themselves during the descent of the Eldar into decadence, which must have been a more-or-less long process - the 'birth pangs of Slaanesh' if you like. But he didn't actually manifest himself as an entity until the end of that process.

That's my understanding anyway.

So yeah - he's about 10,000 years old.

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Slaanesh,
Happy Birthday to you.

i remember the old eldar codex hinting the the fall occured well before humans evolved from fish...lol
"we've been singing songs of lament since before your ancestors crawled on the bellies out of the sea" i think was one of the quotes.
