Default Living metal and machine spirit?

Alright been pondering on this one for a while now, what first got me thinking was the fact that the machine spirit is biomechanical, as well the adeptus mechanicus woship the ommnisiah EI some may say the viod dragon, and along with the fact that the blessing of the machine spirit usually is what delays construction of many vehicles.

So what if the whole "blessing of the machine spirit" at first is the molding or fusing of living metal or a "essence" of living metal they later imbue onto the said warmachine, and that the overly long process of "blessing" the machine spirit is getting the living metal to a point where it can control the vehicle on its own and not try to kill everything living?

I always thought that machine spirit was simply the way that in the 40th millenium they say "AI"

Well it is the automated systems of the vehicle, so i guess it is AI...and not all vehicles have the systems so even though it may take a while to install, i guess it is advantageous.

dont think living metal has ever been used by humans besides ferrus manus having metal hands. all the imperial machines have some sort of A.I. but it dont seem to do too much because it dont fire bullets for the soldiers and control the titans itself. (saying that, hold this space i.e. void dragon) but it does do something to the land raiders in dawn of war game. it will turn out to be a control system for the c'tan to use when they decide to enslave humanity.

I thought machine spirits were humans that were ''programmed'' (like servitors), because the imperium doesnt seem to trust normal computers very much...ButI would have to check that

My explanation for machine spirit: On Mars, the very first Techpriest was having trouble with a machine. He tried logic, he tried swapping and changing components, and after a while he hit it a few times.
Then, in a final act of desperation, he pleaded with it.
"Please, please, PLEASE work mister machine... please?"
and at the same time he grabbed hold of it and gave it a slight shake, which caused the batteries of the machine (which were slightly misaligned) to restore the connection, which caused the machine to work.

and the rest is history...

yeah they use C' Tan blades because they found necron tombs which if you read nightbringer the dark eldar go to a planet because they found a "living" metal. the calidus assassins take the metal and forge it into swords. whcih if used again a C'Tan they just absorb it! in rules and fluf!

Sounds good to me, as in novels (While probably not considered proper fluff in most cases) they have to use incense to 'bless' or rather 'pray' the machine will operate correctly. You could say, based upon NerdyOgre's interpritation, a sort of ignorant obbsessive-compulsive behaviour. Which would perfectly fit into the Imperial religious background.
