In other books particular old weapons do gain a sort of intelligence, animal level, so possible psychic induced intelligence in some.

Well fear to tread occurred before the heresy (during but close enough) so the mechnicum hadn't quite started believing in the machine god, mostly as it was built at the very start of the crusade I think

Da Fuq You just say? The Ad Mech had been around for thousands of years, it was in complete control of Mars when they arrived.

The admech was split during the HH, One faction believed the emperor was the Omnissiah (imperial) another believed he wasn't(horus).

Edit: Checked Lex, the cult of machine worshipers formed during the Dark Age of Humanity.

Well I'm unfortunatey not an expert on mechicum fluff, I do remember now that you mention it that the machine cults emerged ages ago(in 40k terms) but I had forgotten about it then
And excuse me, I forgot what we were arguing about

Originally whether or not machine 'spirits' existed.

Originally I said that they were dumb A.I/V.I. you said they didn't exist.

Well... I didn't exactly say they didn't exist, I just contradicted you =D
But the red tear certainly did seek out the deamons for sanguinius in fear to tread and it mentions nothing above any AIs, just sanguinius talking to it and touching the console

Yeah i never did get the covering every part with oil and the asking nicely part is kind of stupid for most stuff, weapons/individual parts, but at least in vehicles and some other tech they have dumb A.I./V.I. (Halo/ME)

Are you John Titor?
In the Iron warrior omnibus the chant of firing a anti orbital melta torpedo is fire damn you fire, so yeah it being an AI makes sense.

Fear to Tread occurred during the events of Isstvan. LOL And the Mechanicum ALWAYS has believed in the omnisiah. Careful, or the mago's for petition to have you sent to be made into a servitor.

Check out the GyroJet gun from the sixties. Essentially a rifle that shoots rocket propelled bullets (unfortunately they didn't explode inside their targets). Cost for ammunition at the time was approx. $100/bullet so the idea didn't go to far. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrojet

A Chainsword is very realistic possibility but......I'd be hard pressed to be the one to test it out.

Imagine Husqvarna stepping up and giving us all a nerd-gasm with a scale working Chainsword for an IG officer??

What about Bio-tech? The Emperor took millennium to create the organs for the Primarchs/Custodes/and Astartes. Is there any tech out there today that resembles tech from 40K?

Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep ni ni bong
