Default "Rainbow Warriors" Space Marines

Ok, so we all know of the many derogatory nicknames etc for a Chapter that I think could have been a pretty good "background" army.

Some people have done them with an Aztec flavour, and I personally have gone for an - albeit watered down - Native American / Amerindian flavour.

What do you guys think is better suited to the name, and more importantly, why?

As a Yank who just went to Hawaii on vacation, the Rainbow Warriors might be better suited to a Pacific Islander theme chapter. At least I'm not familiar with any Native American/Amerindian tribes/societies using the rainbow as their tribal symbol... which ain't sayin' much. The Hawaiians had violent warrior-driven societies historically and most accounts put them as very hulking characters, more physically similar to the Samoans of present day... they certainly had plenty of protein in their diets. Any of the cultures from the Maori in NZ up through the Hawaiians were pretty fierce and your chapter could have a more island-driven/volcanic fortress monastery world.

You might consider calling them The Anuenue (AH-new-ee-new-ee), the Hawaiian word for Rainbow. I don't even want to hear what your paint scheme is like

The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you have to load, or if you have to unload, go to the White Zone. You'll love it... it's a way of life.

Nick Naylor: Cigarettes in space?
Jeff Megall: It's the final frontier, Nick.
Nick Naylor: But wouldn't they blow up in an all oxygen environment?
Jeff Megall: Probably. But it's an easy fix. One line of dialogue. 'Thank God we invented the... you know, whatever device.'

I'd go with Aztec because of the multicolured nature of aztec Artwork that fits with the ga ... errr I mean Rainbow Warriors.

Like this.

Which would look great if you did it up with skulls and aquillae

I vote for a YMCA theme, because they were a multicultural group of ga- guys who got together for a common cause: to make really fruity sounding music.

I'd go with Aztec. Rainbows are a common thing in tropical climates. Besides, I saw the Aztec theme and it looked excellent.

actually because of the lower latitudes and the angle of the sun rainbows are much less common in the tropics.

I see far more at my work in the higher latitudes than my home in the tropics.

Perhaps deeper in the tropics, but I'm not sure if that stands the same with the tropics when describing them by rivers. For example, rainbows are almost a common sight in the amazon rain forest because of its rivers and waterfalls. Obviously we would be talking about another mere jungle tribes, but I assume a lot of westerners relate the two.

It all about the angle of the sun, nothing else. Lower latitudes means that the sun is higher in the sky for longer and it is the low angles that give rise to rainbows, from rain or waterfalls.

The sun is lower in the sky for much greater periods of time in higher latitudes.
