I then took a cheap knife, heated up on a gas cooker ring, then carefully tilted it at a 45 degree angle and went round the edge giving it a slope
To paint i then covered in PVA, waitied to dry then spraypainted green.
I don't even use a hot wire most times for carving foam (it's generally reserved for blue or pink foam). A fresh sharp blade in my utility knife and away I go. When it starts to rip instead of cut, a fresh blade goes in.
I do all my foam carving in the yard, too. Had a few 'snowstorms' over the years as a result.
