It was certainly a much better match than the last time they faced off in a World Cup final. Italia 90 was the first world cup I got massively into, mainly because it was the first one the Republic of Ireland qualified for, and even only aged 14 I remember thinking that the final was a horribly ugly game. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

As for Messi getting player of the tournament? Bullshit of the highest order. Even Maradonna and Blatter were surprised with that one.

What has that to do with what went on on the pitch, and how could it possibly affect your enjoyment of it? This happened over a thousand miles from where the match took place.
